Vibrant & exciting, Tooting is a multicultural hub so interesting it was recently hailed by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten places to visit - IN THE WORLD!! Only 25 minutes by "tube" from central London - a very easy journey - Tooting is off any well-beaten touristy trail. It offers visitors a TASTE of London's TRUE FLAVOUR! You'll be given the opportunity to enjoy London like a local, & I promise you a memorable trip - guests usually love the area so much they revisit! We'll tour the tastiest local eateries, & take in the constantly evolving local markets. Bring your shopping bags! - these have lately become trendy places to shop, drink and dine. We'll visit spice shops, seasonal street vendors, grocers, sweetshops, & other local, independent businesses that make Tooting so unique. Tooting is famed for it's excellent South Asian cuisine, & many Londoners travel a long way for its food. As something of a food anthropologist, I'm looking forward to (re-)introducing you to "curry"! We'll be myth-busting, & seeking out dishes with authenticity, history and flavour! Expect a culinary tour of the Indian subcontinent in one London suburb, & a few surprises along the way!
Dinner. Along with the HUGE meal, I will have samples of something unique for you to try! Oh the mystery! You will be very…

I'm Aidan, host of "Scrumptious South London" - London's first & finest Airbnb Experience! In 2015 I began sharing my passion for trendy & multicultural Tooting, from my point of view as a local and someone with a passion for the traditional (but often 'undiscovered'!) dishes of my South Asian heritage. Tooting is a multicultural community and, as we explore the history & trends of the area, meandering through it's markets and streets, we taste our way through the cuisine of the Subcontinent. I ♡ cooking & eating & effusing about food, so this makes a great gift for foodies & cooks alike!
We'll visit two "instagramable" 1930s covered markets, which are now trendy spots for shopping & dining; two superb traditional family-run eateries; seasonal street vendors; spice shops; a sweetshop, & other unique local shops. Though no alcohol is included, I'll point you in the direction of my favourite wateringholes, and provide you with a discount voucher for drinks a very friendly local establishment. Expect variety, colour, & surprises!
