We’ll start out with an overview of the coffee process from crop to cup. Equipped with this knowledge, you’ll have the opportunity to grade green beans under the expert eye of our headroaster Dave, who’ll introduce you to the world of roast curves and quality assessment. Once you’ve selected your beans, it’s time to roast! We’ll be there to guide you through the sounds, shades and delicious smells that signify the perfect degree of roasting in this hands-on session. Of course, no roasting workshop would be complete without the chance to taste your work, so next we’ll have a sample of all the coffee creations side-by-side and you can judge the different flavours. You’ll end the session with a bag of your very own roasted beans to show off your skills at home as a master coffee roaster.
Coffee-obsessives Dave and Flo from The Barn will be your guides. Dave is one of the few certified Q-Graders in Germany—the Bar Exam of the coffee world!—and his taste buds are sharp as razors. Flo started out as a home barista, but his passion and skill for brewing quickly led to him becoming an expert coffee professional. Both are dedicated to working only with the highest quality beans.

This workshop will take place in the heart of the roastery of THE BARN located on Schönhauser Allee 8 in Berlin Mitte near Alexanderplatz. THE BARN was a pioneer for Third-Wave Coffee in Germany and has built a strong reputation for quality coffee across the globe.
