How many times have you bought postcards in a souvenir shop that looked nothing like what you actually saw while exploring the streets? Join me as we hit the streets of Oakland using postcards as our guide. We'll be in search of the best local eateries, bookshops, and hangouts. On this scavenger hunt, we'll use the imagery on postcards to guide us down Telegraph Avenue in Oakland's Temescal neighborhood. As we find the location featured on the front of each postcard, we'll stop to write, stamp, and drop them in mailboxes.
As the founder of StreetSalad.Co, I turn images captured around the world into print postcards. I then use the landmarks pictured on the postcards with local walking tours. As a Bay Area native, I can offer a memorable experience for solo travelers, local explorers, and large groups alike. The best part is being able to send a personal hand written note to a friend or family member saying, "you should be here!" You can shop all of our postcard collections at www.StreetSalad.Co
Postcards, stamps, pens
We'll walk and scavenge along Telegraph Avenue in Oakland's Temescal neighborhood. We'll make stops at my favorite local shops, iconic murals, and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, including: Bakesale Betty, Concept 47, Tara's Organic Ice Cream, Dandelion Post, and Marcus Books.
Be prepared to walk and stop in shops. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. Also, bring the addresses of five loved ones so we can write and send postcards along the way.
