On this very impacting tour we'll immerse in the World War II occupied Prague. In just one morning we'll visit the crucial places that are related to the period of Nazi occupation, Czech resistance and the Operation Anthropoid. After we meet in the city center we talk about the begginning of the occupation and life in Prague during the war. Once we've seen former Gestapo headquarters we'll get to the Curve: the place where one of the most important acts of resistance during WWII occurred when on May 27th 1942 two Czechoslovak soldiers attacked a prominent Nazi and one of the darkest figures of Nazi elite, Reinhard Heydrich. Then we continue to the church of Saints Cyril and Methodius; the hiding place of the soldiers in the weeks following the assassination and also the place of the battle of 18th of June '42. We visit the crypt under the church, nowadays a memorial dedicated to Czechoslovak soldiers who died there in a hopeless situation, heavily outnumbered. For the final part we leave the city as we go to Lidice. The village that was burned down and according to Nazi plan was supposed to disappear forever. As we walk accross former village territory you will learn about Lidice inhabitants and the very sad events of that June 1942 morning. During the course of the tour we also cover some other major WWII events and visit several place related to the resistance members.
I have been leading small-group guided tours for more than five years in Prague and Czechia (my main tours of interest are Terezin WWII Jewish Ghetto, 20th century Prague, Dresden, Český Krumlov). I put special emphasis on 20th century and World War II history and my tours are small-group, usually no more than six to eight people which gives us enough time for questions and dialogue as well. Dialogue, sharing the knowledge and friendly atmosphere on the tour are my guidelines, my way of doing the experience. I love traveling and I have lived in several countries so I put myself in travellers' shoes pretty easily. I am certified Prague tour guide as well, have Master's degree in International Relations, speak three languages, and I love culture and history!
We'll see so-called Heydrich's curve, place where the attack took place. We'll also visit St. Cyril and Methodius Church with its underground crypt converted into Czechoslovak soldiers' memorial. And finally we will go to the village of Lidice where we visit both the exposition as the original territory of the old Lidice.
