You'll make your way to my home in the woods (about an 8 minute drive outside of Joseph) where I'll introduce you to the tools and techniques of encaustic painting. I'll demonstrate how to layer the wax and resin to build up a surface for your painting, then you'll work on layering wax on to boards of a few different sizes, fusing each layer with a heat gun. We'll add textures and the beginning layers of colors and then we'll break for a picnic lunch. We'll get back into the studio to have you further your paintings by adding more color, texture, or photo transfers as we go.
I have been practicing encaustic painting since 2013, having fallen in love with the process during an intimate workshop much like I provide now. I have a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in painting from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I operate an online business where I sell my paintings and prints.
Enjoy coffee or tea on arrival while learning about techniques. Fresh mountain purified well water provided throughout the…
Birch boards (3) of various sizes for your paintings, encaustic medium (wax & resin), skillets for melting wax, gloves, oil…
We'll conduct our workshop in my home loft studio, where large windows overlook the evergreen trees surrounding the house.
最多可有4位年满14周岁的参与者参加。 Guests will need to climb stairs.
Sack lunch (if you’d like to eat during our break)
I suggest wearing clothing that you won’t mind getting paint on. It is comfortably warm in the studio, even in winter. If you have respiratory issues, this may not be for you. The vapors released could be bothersome, but we have good ventilation as well.
