Come visit for one-on-one instruction to make cool embroidery pieces or needle felting. Bring friends, or come by yourself! If you want to learn embroidery, you'll start right off by choosing a design or by drawing/tracing your own - or maybe stitch a favourite quote? Then you'll choose your fabric and hoop to get your project underway. I'll teach you how to transfer patterns, learn basic stitches, and share tips for creating a great piece you'll be proud to show off. If you want to learn needle felting, the process will be similar except you'll choose to make either a scene or you can create a small 3D heart. Instead of patterns and hoops, you'll be create using layers of wool roving on a flat surface or using the needles to make a sweet little heart. I'll teach you all the "how to"! Lastly, though this isn't advertised, if you want to make a zine (which is a small art book folded from one large sheet of paper) you can do that, too! Choose from a variety of art materials to create something memorable with collage and mixed media. You might like to make a memory book of your time in The County. All supplies provided. We'll have drinks and snacks, too!e
Hi, I'm Christine. I'm an artist and workshop facilitator offering embroidery and needle felting classes. I provide both individual instruction or can teach you and friends together (up to 4 people). You can check out some of my work and testimonials about my teaching at: http://christinescreativeworks.com As well, I post some of my pieces on Instagram at christinesartkitchen. My experience includes running a summer art camp, teaching art workshops for organizations, and I also published an arts/environment magazine for a few years. I'm an activist with a deep love for community building and recently launched The Art Kitchen, which is a free weekly drop in art-making event. I've lived in Prince Edward County for 20 years, so I know all the best spots in The County if you'd like to learn about those, too!
All materials, fabric, hoops, art supplies and tools needed are provided. Tea, coffee and snacks available.
We'll be creating either in my Diggers bookshop or in my cute RV "camper, both located at my home in South Bay, in Prince Edward County. If the weather is nice, we can move outside to our backyard, if you'd like.
Just bring your sense of fun!
