Join me for a serene paddle and opportunity to practice yoga on the clean and protected waters of Jean Guite Creek. We meet at Kitty Hawk Kayak and Surf School at Mp .5 (just near the bridge) where our rentals will be waiting. After signing waivers, I will go over paddle safety and instruction, and then launch right from the dock out back. The estuary is an ideal and protected place to learn how to paddle board. Even when the winds are strong, and the ocean is cold, this site stays calm and the water is warm. We take a short paddle to our yoga location where we are likely to see red winged black birds, osprey, and perhaps even some turtles or an egret. The yoga practice takes place in a private cove away from all other boat traffic. Everyone is anchored individually. Practice lasts anywhere from 30- 60 minutes and explores meditation, breath work, balance postures and a savasana, aka, adult nap time. Every pose is optional. I'm happy to take photos of you doing some of the poses if you'd like to bring your phone along, waterproof cases are available in the shop if you need one. There is a bathroom available on site if you need to change afterwards. Please no dogs. If you’d like to bring your dog you will need to reserve a private session!
I began practicing yoga on a paddle board in 2013, when I moved to the Outer Banks. With a minor in Outdoor Leadership I took a job working for the largest paddle sport company on the beach as a kayak/paddle board guide. Naturally my yoga practice followed me from land to water. I am a certified yoga instructor and I love being able to safely share my love of yoga with others while out on the water. My teaching is designed for all levels, primarily influenced by the Vinyasa style. In addition to paddle board yoga I offer public classes, private lessons, beach yoga and wedding yoga.
