We will start the experience by meeting at the entrance to Howth Yacht Club. During the course you will be given an introduction to how the weather and environment affects you, how to carry the board and paddle, paddling techniques, different types of turns, self rescue, how to fall safely and how to plan expeditions. We shall then hit the water and practice these skills in a sheltered and calm area. When everyone is comfortable on their boards we can start to explore Howth Harbour, the wildlife and the surrounding areas (wind permitting). I will also provide some history of Howth as we paddle and always welcome any questions from the group!
Born and raised on the peninsula of Howth I have been involved with Watersports since I can remember; Sailing, Surfing, Kitesurfing and SUPing. My passion for Stand Up Paddleboarding has taken me to both SUP surfing and racing competitions around the country and it brings me great pleasure to be able to share this amazing sport with you! I am delighted to share my local knowledge and experience with both new comers and advanced paddlers in my picturesque home town of Howth. Stand Up Paddle boarding is a sport accessible to all ages and sporting abilities. I look forward to bringing you out on the water and catering to the groups needs, whether it be learning the basics or wanting an excursion of this beautiful part of the Irish coastline. You will be in safe hands as I hold my Lifeguard certificate. I look forward to having fun together!
I will provide the SUP Boards, wetsuits (if required) and life jackets.
We will primarily paddle around the large harbour of Howth, however, when weather conditions permit we will also visit Ireland's eye and the bay of Balscadden.
