This workshop is for the beginning sewer, or those armed with only the basics of operating a home machine. You'll receive a kit containing the essentials to complete a sturdy reusable tote. We'll begin with practice stitching for about 20 minutes to gain control of the domestic machine. I will guide and work with you through this process. Next, we’ll construct the bag body, and then attach the leather straps during the final stage. We'll end with a half hour BYOB get-together with treats and tea provided in the lovely garden of my unique Brooklyn brownstone. In inclement weather, we’ll have treats in the studio on the garden level.
Snacks I'll serve cake/treats and teas for a snack.
Beverages I’ll provide tea. If you’d like wine or beer for the snack session, please bring your own.
Sewing machine supplies I’ll provide each participant with a kit containing denim fabric, rivets, and leather straps.
We’ll work in my home, in a decked-out garden level studio that leads out to the garden where we’ll have tea and snacks, weather permitting. The reusable tote you’ll make is ideal for grocery shopping, picnicking or taking to the beach. Best of all, you will make it yourself in Brooklyn.
