We will meet at the Imperial Beach Pier where we'll begin our walking tour and off-menu delights! 1st Stop: IB Pier Here, we’ll walk out into the water on the last pier before the border and discuss it's history. 25 minutes 2nd Stop: Coronado Brewing Company Here, we’ll try our first beers and have a special meet-n-greet with one of the original owners. 30 minutes 2nd Stop: Mike Hess Brewing Satisfying street tacos (vegetarian options available), with off-menu offerings, and more local craft beer. We discuss the paths beer and culture have taken in SD. 1 hour 3rd Stop: The Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve We’ll walk and talk about the interesting history of this border town, it's protected estuary, and meet one of the land stewards. 1 hour 4th Stop: Cow-a-Bunga Ice Cream & Coffee And finally, if you still have room, we'll visit a shop on the pier for something sweet. 30 minutes
We are a local couple who has lived in the community for most of our lives. We've been students, tenants, business owners, community leaders, teachers, and friends in our small beach town. We've experienced the many changes the city has endured in recent years and can share intimate knowledge about the culture and history of the area.
