You'll start your day in the company of past Presidents of the Camanachd Association at our Book Launch where you will have the opportunity to find out about our nations most indigenous team sport. This year the final will bring together two of our biggest clubs Glenurquhart v Newtonmore. You will be welcomed into the Presidents Marquee for pre match hospitality which will be followed by the match itself.
As CEO for the Camanachd Association (Scotlands most iconic and indigeneuos team sport, Shinty) I have spent a number of years learning about the incredible connection our sport has with its history. As an organisation we are always committed to trying to provide the best experience possible for our members and we want to extend that opportunity to tourists. Our sport is profiled in iconic tv programmes such as Outlander and the animated film Brave and we want to connect tourists and people visiting inverness with a true taste of Scottish sport and what it means to take part in the clash of the ash.
The day will begin with our book launch at the Bught Park, near the beautiful Inverness Riverside where you will join the shinty community for our first major final of the year. A pipe band will welcome our players and guests to the venue with pre match entertainment followed by the match itself.
Some of those attneding major finals wear tartan. It is a great day for a kilt if you have one but wearing clothing approrpiate for the days weather is all that is required.
