The program comprises three parts. It’s advisable to allocate a whole day to have a full experience. Morning (8.00am 10.30am) (INTRODUCTION OF BUKIT MERTAJAM) Pick up from airport or hotel in Penang (to be arranged). A tour within the old city of Bukit Mertajam, where brief regarding the town history and culture will be given as well as savouring the local delicacies (non-halal). After breakfast, a visit will be paid to St Anne Church, a historical landmark also an archaeological site. Afternoon (11am-1pm) (WORKSHOP) Learn how to cook a simple local Malay cuisine such as Nasi Lemak, Kari Ayam, Tomyum etc (based on guests’ choice). The cooking is served as lunch. Guest may rest and shower at the premise with hot shower, shower gel and shampoo provided. (2.00pm-6.00pm) (ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR) Tour to archaeological sites in Bujang Valley, Kedah. The trip will cover Sungai Batu Archaeological Complex, Bujang Valley Museum etc. Tour will be given from the host. Hands on (excavation) is available (additional charge). Evening (6.15pm) (End of trip) Making move to pick-up point from Bujang Valley. It’s estimated arriving at Penang by 7.30pm.
I’m currently a PHD student, with degrees in archaeology and architecture. Personally had three years experience as an archaeologist performing excavation in Bujang Valley. At the moment running a small restaurant my business partner. We both are equally well verse in Chinese homecooked meal as well as simple Malay cuisine. During weekend, It would be great to make new friends and networking through food sharing about local cuisine as well as showing our guests the cultural and historical sites in Bukit Mertajam, Penang and Bujang Valley, Kedah.
