Let's explore together some hidden places in Hakata old town. Our tour will start at Gion Station exit 1, from there we are walking to our first destinations in the Hakata old town area. 3 famous Temples, discover the first Zen Temple in Japan, the birthplace of Udon and Soba, the largest seated Buddha statue in Japan and explore the Journey from Hell to Heaven. After that, we are going to eat the famous Tonkotsu Ramen in one of the most delicious and popular places under local people, one of the hidden food gems in Hakata. After finishing our meal we are moving on to explore the Kushida shrine, which was built in 757 and has a deep historical meaning. Let's grab a fresh Matcha latte on the way and have a look around a store with traditional chopsticks. Around the Shrine you can see “Kazariyama” (it’s a symbol of “Hakata Gion Yamakasa” one of the three major festivals in Fukuoka). Let's look into the future and get an Omikuji paper of fortune! Discover how the Hakata Ori Textile is traditionally made and see the famous Hakata Dolls. I'll show you the best shops to buy unique gifts for your loved ones! Get insights into Shinto rituals, shrine manners, and learn about the origin of Zen Buddhism.
I created Experience Fukuoka a platform based on cultural experiences in Fukuoka, Japan. On a regular base, I organize day tours in Fukuoka and Kyushu to historical and cultural places to introduce the unique Japanese Culture to travelers. I know the hidden spots visitors are looking for and I am happy to guide you around the beautiful Old Town Hakata. I love Japanese Culture and my greatest passion is Aikido and Japanese Calligraphy, I am very honored to be able to learn the art of Aikido from one of the most admired Aikido teachers in Japan here in Fukuoka. I traveled through a lot of countries over many years and worked before as a tour guide. Here in Fukuoka, I work as a volunteer to support a local travel agency and their study tour program. You are in the best hands during this experience!
