In this activity I´m gonna take you through the pam fields of Quepos to get to a place called Playa El Rey that is the most southern limit of the Manuel Antonio National Park and is surrounded by pam and rice plantations but brings habitat to many species of coast and aquatic birds as well as other beautiful kinds. There we´re gonna walk for around 3 hours in order to look for all the species of birds that we can watch and heard, pictures will be taken when the moment alloìws it. We will start early in the morning at 6:00 am when birds are usually more active and there are more probabilities to spot the most stunning species. Special optic equipment like a HD spotting scope and binoculars will be provide alongside with field guides for a better appreciation and understanding of the birds. After 3 hours we will head back to Quepos while we review all the species seen and make a checklist.
I´m a Tourist Guide certified by the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) with more than 5 years of experience working in naturalist activities and animals´ sighting through all Costa Rica. I´m currently working around the Central Pacific area of the country where I live in (Quepos). I considere me a passionate nature lover who enjoy learning and teaching about the Costa Rica´s biodiversity to make people realize how important is the conservation of our natural resources. I grew up in a small town called Golfito in the southeast surrounded by pristine mountains and ocean where I got my interest of becoming a tour guide and explain tourists the amazing flora and fauna that Costa Rica has for showing up. I´m known by my customers for having an eagle eye in the forest to spot animals that would be impossible to see with your naked eye.
Esquipulas is found in the low-mountains on the way to the Central Range of Costa Rica from Quepos. There we will watch the birds during the first hours of the morning and see how they behave in a natural habitat with native tree species and pure air.
