This is a unique grape discovery & wine tasting experience with a local family! Nebbiolo is the most ancient native black grape variety in Piedmont, and of the most noble and prestigious in Italy. Tenuta Carretta is one of the few wineries to have vineyards of nebbiolo in all the original wine producing areas of the nebbiolo grape in the Langhe and Roero: Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Nebbiolo d’Alba and Langhe Nebbiolo. At our arrival you'll be greeted and welcomed before visiting the winery and then taste: - Podio Langhe DOC - The Podio vineyard first appears in 1467, when the Count Damiano granted his land to his stewards for cultivation. He required that half of the grapes were to be property of the castle, but all of the grapes from Podio were reserved for the count (“salvo et riservato vites Podii Serrae”). - Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC - An elegant and harmonic wine, with sweet tannins that showcase the nobility of the variety. - Tavoleto Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC - These nebbiolo grapes, from Podere Tavoleto in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio in the municipality of Alba, give live to this structured, harmonic, smooth and elegant wine. - Garassino Barbaresco DOCG - Garassine is a winemaking area bounded by Treiso and noted for the personality and elegance of its wines. This Barbaresco proves it: complex, harmonic and persuasive. -Cascina Ferrero Barolo DOCG -
I'm the co-founder of winedering.com, an international company exclusively focused on unique wine experiences. For me it's not important what you drink, it's important who you drink. Wine tasting experiences are a moment of sharing, it's not just a glass of wine. It's all about the relationship established with the wine maker. I've always studied and worked in tourism and I've always wanted to create something unique, which was not only related to wine, but to special moments! This is why I created winedering a few years ago. I will take you to the Miroglio family (Edoardo and his wife, Ivana and their children Marta and Franco), who have been owning the winery since 1985, but the history of the estate dates back to the 28th of November 1467, yes - 1467!
You'll visit Tenuta Carretta Winery, a historic Estate in Piobesi d’Alba, Roero, a hilly area north of the City of Alba and on the left bank of the Tanaro River. This is where the headquarters are situated, surrounded by just under 35 hectares of vineyards. To the south of the river lies the hills of the Langhe, where the other 35 hectares of vineyards are located, for a total of 70 hectares.
