We will meet in Chinchero, from where we begin immersion in the culture and tradition of a native community. Here we will learn, from the same Quechua women, the ancient technique of weaving in the loom that has been taught from generation to generation since before the Inca era. The women will give us a warm welcome to their workspace, where they'll show us the process of preparing the threads which we will work with. We’ll see, step by step, each stage prior to weaving in order to understand and experience the theoretical part of our activity. Before starting the practical part, we will have a quick break to taste a snack of local food, also prepared by the ancestral technique of "HUATIA" (Traditional way to cook potatoes on the ground with an earthen oven). Once we have recharged our energies with the delicious “Huatia”, we begin the learning of the weaving technique in a loom, the Quechua women will teach us, step by step, how to make a bracelet in the same way they learned from their mothers, and now they teach to their daughters. The importance of this activity, besides being different, is to be able to continue transmitting this ancestral knowledge to more people, and thus help keep our culture and tradition alive by generating a job opportunity to Native families; and offer our visitors a closer view of the daily life of the Andean people.
I was called to do philanthropy since I was a child, and together with my husband Diego, who is a professional tour guide and sharing our culture with you is our passion. We met people from this village about 4 years ago already, and this experience tries to create opportunities for their lives and for their future generations. At the same time, we try to keep and preserve our ancestral knowledge and tradition. We like to believe that helping, drawing one smile a day and small details can make the difference for someone life. https://www.airbnb.com.pe/users/show/215938686
