Located 5 minutes from the famous Makanda board walk, surrounded by wonderful wineries, hiking trails galore, and the best local restaurants. The property sits on 5 acres with a beautiful pond that has a dock, chairs, umbrella, and a water fountain that sounds mesmerizing.Great place to meditate, do yoga, drink wine , sun bathe, swim, enjoy the sounds of mother nature.

The tiny house is on the edge of a 4 acre pond. Full mattress in a loft, stairs and a handrail to get up, it's a bit over 5 feet for headroom, please note, a loft bed is not for everyone. Cabin is in the woods with bugs, poison ivy, and animals. There are all sorts of creatures swimming in the pond below, along w/ fish and turtles. Fishing is catch and release. If you want to be in a kind of raw nature setting without landscaping, tom, your host, will guide you in this experience.

Deer Run Retreat is a comfortable two bed (King/Queen), one bath walk-up with with a two car garage just 7 minutes south of SIU Arena in the heart of the southern Illinois wine trail. We are 7 minutes to Giant City, 17 minutes to Alto or Von Jakob wineries, 10 minutes to Flamm orchard peach cobbler. This rural neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. We have recently added a Finnish Sauna and Japanese Ofuro Soaking Tub. We accept well behaved dogs for a fee of $35 a night. We allow only guests and friends of the Pool House on the grounds, gardens or pool. Hosts are Jane, anthropologist and D. a retired photojournalist for the New York Times.
