This beautiful cottage is situated in an idyllic location; listen to the gurgling river as you sit on the decking or drift off to sleep. One minute's walk away over a Victorian swing bridge is an enchanting pebble beach. Here you may see seals, dolphins, salmon, and plenty of seabirds depending on the season. Ideally placed for the North Coast 500, this modernised cottage is warm and cosy with central heating and hot water provided by a biomass boiler, and a wood burning stove for cooler nights.

The house is set in 100 acres of land including shoreline. The spacious open-plan living area contains a very well-equipped kitchen and dining area where you can dine under the stars. The wood burning stove will keep you cosy on colder nights. There is so much to explore in the area, two nights may not be enough!

The Old Smiddy, Huna, John O'Groats

Close to the village of John O' Groats and on the North Coast 500, the Old Smiddy (an old blacksmith's cottage) has been beautifully restored into a modern home, while keeping many of its original features. The cottage sleeps 4 people in 2 double bedrooms (both en-suite) and has a fold-away camp bed for use by a small child. The cottage offers beautiful sea views across the Pentland Firth to the Orkney Islands and is the perfect base for exploring Caithness, Sutherland and Orkney.

Scrabster ferry terminal for Orkney or the Shetlands is only a 5-10 minute drive away. ​

Unlike many Loch Ness cottages, we are not on a road, just the garden between us and the Loch. You’ll love the panoramic views of Loch Ness, the idyllic location, private beaches, and total peace and quiet. 1 or 2 well behaved dogs (small or medium size) welcome. In July and August, Saturday arrivals/departures only.
