Boasting a well equipped kitchen including large BBQ area and fire pit (byo wood). It is located on a mining field, 2kms from town. Enjoy expansive views from a private turret. Remember this is a genuine mining camp, off grid so don't expect five star, it is hot in summer and cold in winter! (no heating or a/c)

Enjoy your morning coffee on the covered patio, big yard for your pet, there is ducted air conditioning throughout the whole house & gas heating if need it.

Stay on the opalfields, off grid and next door to the iconic Ridge Castle. Deceptively rustic from the outside, the Knights Quarters is an elegant open plan apartment featuring a full sized kitchen, large bathroom and a Queen and King single bed with luxe organic cotton linen. Enjoy the views and relax by the fire-pit (byo wood) under billions of stars. This is a genuine camp on the Ridge with solar power so has no heating or air-conditioning, there are fans for summer and blankets for winter.

“Oasis” is defined as "something that provides refuge, relief, or pleasant contrast". Rustic living in two sections. The main structure is a modern, comfortable shed/studio with two king single beds. Next door the Canvas Cabana provides a camping experience with two stretcher beds. A basic kitchenette with fridge/freezer, butane burner, microwave, sink, flush loo and outdoor shower with a five star view! A firepit is a delightful way to enjoy evening relaxation under the stars (BYO wood).

You are Welcome! Coconut Grove offers private access to a cluster of tastefully renovated 1960s caravans (3). Van 1 has a comfortable double bed, Van 2 has 2 single beds and in Van 3 there is a well appointed kitchen and dining area. A cute private bathroom in a recycled shed is complete with shower over bath and tasteful compost loo. There is plenty of room to enjoy amazing sunrises, sunsets & night skies. Opal fossicking onsite and an organic garden. BYO firewood for late night firepits!

You are Welcome! Find opal at the back door of our delightfully renovated 20ft caravan, aptly named THE Tardis! Including 2 comfy beds (double + single), air con & heating and basic cooking facilities, you will be pleasantly surprised by this unique opalfield 'cara-camping' retreat. A short drive to town and all attractions THE Tardis is just far enough away to be peaceful but close enough to be accessible Your hosts are locals with many passions. Please note we do not accept pets onsite.

The Old School House

Come and stay in The Old School House at Lightning Ridge – circa 1912, relocated from town to the Three Mile opal field. It’s in a unique position about a 5-minute drive from town, on the bitumen and 500 metres on a gravel road used by miners. A striking self contained cottage, completed January 2021, surrounded by established desert garden and native bushland. Super comfy inside and outside you can relax in the bush kitchen, enjoy a game of table tennis or watch a romantic sunset on the front verandah. Your privacy is assured however I live close by and am available to welcome you and answer any questions.

The Bimble Box - opal field retreat

The Bimble Box is a much loved opal miners' camp, built from stone, conveniently located and beautifully renovated to create a light-filled, open-plan interior with stunning views. Inside there's a relaxing lounge area, large dining/work table, modern kitchen and comfortable new beds. This beautiful little off-grid opal field home is solar powered, water conserving, clean, comfortable and just a short drive or leisurely walk to the shops, cafés and hot artesian baths.
