Traditional district Guesthouse

The house is in a quiet, traditional area of Nara with smooth access to the station and main sightseeing spots. You’ll have 2 guest rooms upstairs with a toilet and washbasin. The shower room is on the first floor. Each room has a lock for your privacy. There are 3 futon beds and 1 double bed. Meals are available if reserved 2 days in advance: sukiyaki dinner (6,500 JPY/person) breakfast (1000 JPY/person) I also run a cozy café nearby, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We once called this place home — a family of five and our dog. We still return a few times a year. Across from a leafy park and a peaceful Shinto shrine, it’s a quiet, cottage-like retreat. Perfect for families; large dogs welcome. Nearby: a charming sento, shops, banks, and post office within minutes. Easy access to Umeda, Shin-Osaka, and Kyoto. Plenty of affordable coin parking. This is our home, not a dedicated rental — we’re happy to share it with respectful guests.

A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away. This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!
