This listing is for one private sleeping cabin on a remote island in the Fleinvær archipelago of Northern Norway.
The sleeping cabins are intentionally small and designed primarily for rest. Inside you'll find a comfortable place to sleep and store your few belongings, while daily life unfolds elsewhere: in the kitchen, the studio, sauna, on the docks, and outdoors among sea and sky.
Shared meals, sea swims, and long evenings under the ever-changing sky are all part of the experience.

The Arctic Hideaway is as much a mindset as a physical locationit is a place to slow down, disconnect from the noise of everyday life, and reconnect with nature, creativity, and one another.
Located on a car-free island in the Fleinvær archipelago, 15 km from Bodø, the Hideaway is a collection of cabins designed around simplicity, creativity, and connection. The architecture is intentionally designed to draw you outdoors. Moving between the sleeping cabins, kitchen, bathhouse, studio, and sauna means stepping outside into the weather, the light, and the landscape throughout the day.
From your doorstep you may encounter seabirds, seals, midnight sun, northern lights, dramatic storms, and long quiet evenings overlooking the Norwegian Sea.
The entire Hideaway can accommodate up to 10 guests and is available for retreats, workshops, family gatherings, and private events. Guests interested in reserving the entire property or arranging a special event are welcome to contact us directly.

The Captain’s cabin (aka Lower Fat) is one of our wider cabins, located closest to the sea.
The cabin will be your private space, with a king-size bed (180 cm) and enough room to store your luggage, but that's about it. It is designed as a comfortable sleeping space for one or two guests.
You will also have access to all shared facilities across the property, including the Tower House, kitchen, studio house, Crab Trap, bath house, and sauna. These spaces are shared with other guests, artists, and residents staying on the island.
The pantry is stocked with ingredients and provisions for all guests. Some meals are prepared by our caretaker, while others are cooked and shared by guests staying on the island.
Please note that you will be out in the elements as you move between the different buildings throughout the day. Our staircase is a wonderful place to watch the stars on your way to brush your teeth or head up to the kitchen for a cup of tea.

As on most small islands, resources are finite. Fresh water is produced from seawater through a desalination system, and while there is plenty for daily use, we encourage guests to use it thoughtfully.
Waste also leaves the island by boat. We ask guests to be mindful of what they bring and to take personal food items, leftovers, drinks, and other belongings with them when they leave. If you bring something to the island, please plan to consume it, share it, or take it home with you.
The pantry is stocked with ingredients for shared meals throughout your stay. Our approach to cooking is simple and based on what is available, seasonal, and local whenever possible.
Alcohol is not sold on the island. If you would like wine, beer, or other drinks during your stay, please bring them with you when you arrive. Boxed wine is preferable to glass bottles, as glass recycling is limited on the island.
The Arctic Hideaway is reached by public ferry from Bodø. While ferry schedules are generally reliable, weather occasionally has the final say, particularly during the winter months. We strongly recommend allowing flexibility in your travel plans, especially if you are connecting to international flights. Many guests choose to spend an extra night in Bodø before onward travel.
