“It's a very nice museum that was built by the Baron Revoltella, a very generous patron of the city's cultural life. There is the formerly private palace with all the representative rooms to see and also the modern part with an art collection. In summer there is also a rooftop terrace café with amazing views over the city and the Gulf of Trieste”

“One of the most prestigious historical cafés. The Viennese style grand café is an ideal place to hang out and have some coffee and cake - or even an aperitivo in a very classy but still relaxed atmosphere. Can be combined with a visit to the impressive Synagogue (the second largest in Europe) that is just around the corner. ”

“Il Castello di San Giusto si erge sul colle che domina Trieste, con una splendida vista sul suo golfo ed il suo entroterra. Originally constructed in 1320, the church features a Romanesque and Gothic design and the front façade has a huge circular window with a beautiful lattice design. Inside, the church features a plethora of decoration and the archways in the main aisle are covered with coloured patterns and ornate sculptures. ”

“Opened before WWII, the family-run Siora Rosa is one Trieste's best-loved traditional buffets (bar-restaurants). “This veritable hall of mirrors (specchi) first opened its doors back in 1839 and has more recently been taken over by the chocolatiering Faggiotto from Pordenone (although the matriarch is a local; in fact, she was Miss Trieste 1982). This is the ultimate Piazza Unità front-row seat, whatever the weather, and the coffee has returned to its once former glory.”

“This pier was built on the remains of the ship San Carlo that sank on this point in 1740, becoming in 1743 the base for the pier called “Molo San Carlo”. At the end of the 1st world war on November 3rd 1918, the destroyer “Audace” came to the city and the pier was renamed. Funnily enough, the 3rd of November was already a holiday in the city that celebrates Saint Justus, patron of the city. Insider tip: Avoid the pier in days of strong bora as it’s very exposed to the wind. Rather go to Eataly and take one of the tables in the far end and enjoy the Bora with a view on the sea. ”
