自我介绍

After years of living in Houston, I moved to the Berkshires, retiring from my position as Writer-in-Residence at Rice University. Although my house is five minutes from Williams College, it's difficult to find, tucked back off the road, facing eight acres of woodlands. Guests say it's a surprise to find a slice of nature wonderland after you drive into "the compound." Birdsong will wake you. I love to host. I'm originally from Louisiana so expect a bit of New Orleans flavor: strong coffee, southern drawl, and southern hospitality. My dogs will greet you in an overly friendly manner. We are all somewhat demonstrative around here in our welcome to guests. There's a screen porch, a deck, a patio, a fire pit, and cozy rooms filled with art and books. Easily accessible from my home are The Clark, MassMoCa, besides the art installations this is where the music festivals take place--Fresh Grass Music Festival, Wilco; also I've hosted many families coming for Williams' graduation. There's hiking in close proximity--the trailhead for Appalachian Trail is nearby but also many other trails, as well as lakes--Windsor Lake, North Pond--and rivers--Green River, Deerfield. There's the Williamstown Theater Festival in the summer and Tanglewood is 30 minutes away. An abundance of riches! I'm in love with my new home base in the beautiful Berkshires--far away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. I've created a pocket of eccentricity here in Williamstown--some funky charm I brought North with me to my new abode.
