Go to Granada a lovely city, and visit Alhambra the moorish palace there. Sevilla is a very charming and vibrant historical and cultural city. In Cordoba you find the lovely city and the famous Mezquita.
Ronda is another historical city within easy reach.
Malaga is often overseen by tourists, but it is a lovely and very spanish city with a lot of cultural life and historical sites as well.

It is quite easy and very cheap to get around by bus. Or you can hire a car in the airport if you wish. It's a 45 min drive from Malaga airport. When taking the bus from the airport you need to change at the main busstation in Malaga. You can also take a taxi from the airport.
