Michele is so nice and considerate. He took us a ride from sorrento which made us feel comfortable and moved. The apartment is very tidy, from the balcony you can enjoy wonderful view. We are so lucky to have chance to have a short stay in his apartment. And we are lucky to know him and his family, also the cute dog Will.
This is such a great place, large village with unbeatable view of the sea! Michelle was also very helpful, providing the best advices and help! You can't miss this place!
Nous avons passé les plus belles vacances à Positano Michele est super gentil, réactif, il donne de très bon conseils L’appartement est juste magnifique, une vie à couper le souffle.
This air bnb is absolutely incredible. The view from the terrace must be one of the best in Positano and we were left pinching ourselves. Michele was a great host who went over and above to make sure we were having a great time and went to great length to save us a parking space etc. Very quick replies and responses too. Don’t hesitate to book!!
The largest neighborhood of positano( CHIESA NUOVA)
The CHIESA NUOVA is the group of houses that rises higher and is among the oldest in the country, cut in two by a rolling road, but united in a tangle of legends that tell of Arab past and ancient traditions.
The Church, from which the neighborhood takes its name (Chiesa Nuova), is the only one in the country with an elliptical plan; there are those who say that it was a mosque with a characteristic domed roof, built when the people of Positano, in their trade with the East, had made great friendships with their customers to the point of consecrating a place to their religion. Inside there are ancient paintings and a cinerary urn of the Roman sacristy of the first century after Christ.
Other Arab influences can be read in a road connecting the neighborhood with Santa Maria del Castello, a mountain hamlet of Vico Equense, which was built by Moorish prisoners in the 1700s.
Walking through the alleys and stairs of the neighborhood you will find the villas that hosted great personalities such as Irene Kowaliska and Irmin Wegnere or even Karol Wojtyla when he was a seminarian.
In the chiesa nuova area you will find the restaurant C'era una volta and the grottino azzurro restaurant after the international bar next to the bus stops located for sorrento and amalfi. You will also find a tobaccoshop with ATM, a Grocery shop, the townhall of positano, the post office with ATM, a fish shop, a fruit shop, a pastry shop and the local bus stop to center of positano at the corner of via pasitea near the tobacco shop.Via Pasitea starts from the Chiesa Nuova and ends in Piazza dei Mulini (1,5 Km).
A moped or motorcycle is by far the most pleasurable means of getting around the Amalfi Coast, allowing travellers to explore the area in complete freedom, without having to worry about getting stuck in traffic or where to park.
Obviously, we only recommend you use a motorcycle or moped to get around the Amalfi Coast if you already have considerable experience and are confident about navigating the many kilometers of hairpin bends.
Regional Sita buses (often red or green -and -white) stop at two scheduled bus stops located at either end of town .Chiesa Nuova (at Bar Internazionale, and Sponda.)
Although both stops are near roads leading downhill through the town to the beach.Chiesa Nuova is closer and less steps;from this stop it's scenic 15 -minute downhill stroll to the beach
