This is our lovely home in the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons. Sitting on the side of the Black Mountain we have wonderful views and as much peace and quiet as you can ask for. The house has 3 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. The master bedroom has a big ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath with a view over the mountain. The other bedrooms are a good size but still cosy and one has a mezzanine level with a dedicated work space and great views across the mountain. Downstairs there is a good size kitchen with a range cooker, an American style fridge freezer and a dishwasher, a utility room with a washing machine, a big dining room with seating for 12 and an inglenook fireplace with a woodburner. There's a really big lounge with a inglenook fireplace including the original bread oven and a woodburner to keep you toasty. Outside there is a garden with enough space to kick a football, a mini orchard and veg and flower beds, a terrace overlooking the mountain with a barbecue and seating area and a shed with tumble dryer and storage for bikes. You can also help yourself to any fruit, vegetables or herbs that are ripe when you visit. There is parking for 3 cars on the drive. For your younger visitors we have games and toys, a cot and highchair, blackout blinds and lots of ideas of where to go and what to do - even when the Welsh Weather does it's worst. We have been renovating the house for the past 10 years, using as many traditional techniques as we can. It keeps throwing up surprises (like the inglenooks - we had no idea they were there) and is a fantastic place to live. Its also a great place for a special occasion - we can help arrange catering, decoration and anything else you might need - We got married in the garden so we can vouch for it being a great place to celebrate. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Beautiful location so quiet and stunning views, close to the mountains too. Lovely property plenty of room and lovely decoration too. We used the wood burning fires which made it cozy, would recommend it.
The house is lovely. Lots of space and there was 8 of us staying. Kitchen had everything we needed. Location is remote but idyllic. Becca was very responsive and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
We’ve just had a wonderful stay at Bryn Capel. Becca provided very clear instructions and was on hand when we had some problems with the back door. Fab facilities, very relaxing and perfect base for exploring Wales. Extremely comfortable beds, so much so we will be investing in the same mattress! We’ll be back!
Great place for up to 8 adults and or children lots of room so people didn’t feel on top of one another. The facilities were great. There was a broken kitchen cupboard and it felt a bit chilly in the evenings but on messaging Becca she told us how to boost the heating function which made it fine. The beds were exceptional everybody commented on how comfortable they were, slight lack of pubs in the area but didn’t make much difference in the end. The garden was dog friendly and safe. Overall a great place would highly recommend.
Beautiful home, was a perfect place to rest after a day outside. Super comfy beds! The kitchen was a great place to cook and play games . Enjoyed strolling down the road in the evenings and saying hello to the sheep and chickens. Would definitely recommend this lovely home, well situated for a relaxing weekend in the hills.
Gwynfe is a hamlet in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It's quiet and peaceful but doesn't have too much in the way of amenities. The nearest village Llangadog has a shop, several pubs and a fabulous butcher and nearby towns Llandeilo and Llandovery have lots of lovely independent shops and places to eat. Also nearby is the red kite feeding centre (although they often circle over the house) and Carreg Cennen Castle - the most castley castle we've ever seen. And of course the Brecon Beacons themselves - the walking and mountain biking is brilliant and the house is a handy stop off on the Brecons Way. We are also within easy reach of the Gower for days on the beach or Pembrokeshire to explore the lovely coast.
You will need a car for your visit. The nearest train station is in Llangadog and is on the Heart of Wales line between Swansea and Shrewbury, which is beautiful. Nearest local shops are in Llangadog, small supermarket in Llandeilo or Llandovery, big supermarket in Pontardawe.
