When you will reach this place, you will rapidly find yourself in a warm and gratifying environment. The magic of the place won't go unperceived and little by little you will feel how peace, harmony and calm are taking shape inside of you. CHUCHUYOC is a 4-hectare ranch located at almost 3.000 meters above sea level on the banks of the Juella river. Nestled at the foot of the surroundings mountains, its natural environment, its remoteness from population centres and from neighbors and also its sustained calm, will transport you, as if by magic, back in time … If you love unspoiled nature you will find here its best expression. The cardones, churquis, chilcas, airampos and other bushes that grow up in the mountains recreate the semi dry environment that is typical for the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Plants species growing here have adapted to the lack of rain. Thanks to irrigation, however, planting and sowing is possible. Peach trees, apple trees, pear trees, walnut trees, vines, willows, poplars and molles give to the ranch the characteristics of an oasis inhabited also by birds and mammals. We sow corn, broad beans, peas, pumpkins, cayotes, garlic and others vegetables. The peace of the place will not even be affected by the passing by of the goats walking to the grazing grounds on the mountains, or by the footsteps of horses and donkeys ridden by locals towards places located at higher altitudes. And how sweet it is to sleep in this calm! The body and the spirit can rest and the soul is recharged with positive energy. It will be a marvelous experience, that is only possible in places such as the ranch.
I am sure that this is the best place you can find in all of Argentina. If you are looking for somewhere isolated and peaceful to truly disconnect from the busy world, and yet feel comfortable and at home, this place is perfect. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and you can spend days just chilling and exploring the property, together with adorable and sweet Alku. But of course the place wouldn’t be the same without Juan Antonio, who is such an amazing and kind host. We shared a traditional asado together on arrival, which was a special and unique experience. And we also shared so many wonderful conversations even though we didn’t speak perfect Spanish! He made us feel welcome the whole time, it felt like visiting a friend; we really connected with both the place and the host 😊
Imperdible.
The Quebrada de Juella is located at only 5 kms from Tilcara.
The Quebrada in its whole extension is traversed by a river with the same name that ends at Río Grande, where you can find a bridge and the Ruta Nacional Nº 9.
It's considered one of the prettiest quebradas in the region, as it is located in a rural valley that is known for the variety of fruit trees cultivated there. Among these fruits you will find: peach trees, damasco trees, pear trees and apple trees; in the valley grows also corn, andes potatoes, beans, garlics, cayotes, pumpkins, in addition to varieties of pulses and other vegetables.
Looking at the north from the Quebrada of Rio Juella is visible El Antigal, and more close by a spectacular plateau that rises above a red base and is crowned by yellow heights.
By traveling to Tilcara and beyond its cemetery, you can take the local road to visit typical neighborhoods like La Banda and Villa Florida.
The Quebrada de Juella is an isolated place, that is not reached by public transport.
Taxis, however, can take you from Tilcara to Juella and, if the river allows it, to the ranch.
I’d be happy to arrange a transfer from the village to the ranch, a trip I take multiple times during a week.
Due to the remoteness of the ranch, I recommend a minimum stay of 3 days.
