In Pias Haus haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und es ist alles vorhanden, was man benötigt. Mit Parkplätzen direkt vor dem Haus gab es überhaupt kein Problem. Der Ausblick von der kleinen Terrasse Richtung Meer und Sonnenuntergang hat uns jeden Abend immer wieder fasziniert. Im Ort gibt es alles einzukaufen für den täglichen Bedarf. Die Leute sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, auch sehr nette Nachbarn. Uns hat die Zeit in Pias Haus super gefallen! Pia hilft , wenn es Probleme gibt. Ein ideales Haus für einen Besuch in der Toskana! Wir empfehlen es gerne weiter. Daniela, August 2019

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, Pia's house is the perfect location. The stone house is very nicely decorated, and has 3bedrooms you can use on the 1st and 2nd floor. The communication with Pia was really good and Pia was really reactive to our question. You can park easily just near the house for free. The village of Castelina is very nice, very animated and has a lot of restaurant for such a small village. Just beware that you will need at least 30minutes to go to the coast or cities in the surroundings but if you are looking for a quiet place,the house of Pia is definitely a good place.

Pia's house is situated on a hilltop not far away from the coast, with a very open view on the sea. It's a nicely decorated house, with a definite bouddhist style. It's ideally located if you want to visit Pisa and go to the beaches of the area. Avoid Rosignano (there's a somewhat nasty factory there), but enjoy Ceccina and all the Etruscan coast southwards. Pisa is close as well ! Such a pleasant stay !

Abbiamo soggiornato da Pia per qualche giorno e la casa si è rivelata perfetta! Ottima posizione, a metà tra le località marittime e quelle dell'entroterra come Volterra, Bolgheri, Monte Riggioni. Pia è sempre stata disponibile per ogni chiarimento e la casa è arredata con cura. Consiglio di alloggiare qui!!

We had a wonderful two weeks in Pia’s charming and eclectic home. As mentioned by others, on the ground floor there is a huge living room and a large kitchen with all the items you need—full-sized refrigerator, gas stove, lots of pots and pans, glasses, dishes, etc., and a huge table. One floor up there are two very large bedrooms and a big bathroom with shower and bidet, and on the top floor there is a third large bedroom that has a beautiful minimalist/Eastern feel to it—though it was rather hot in summer, it would be lovely in cooler seasons. There are interesting items everywhere you look, many relating to Tibetan Buddhism. The house was quite cool on hot days thanks to its location on the hill and cross-ventilation through the large windows. Parking was very easy, on a little-traveled street almost directly across from the house. It was a breeze to unload and load the car and to carry in groceries and beach bags. We chose Pia’s house because we wanted to stay in a small, non-touristy area not far from good beaches, and we found Castellina Marittima perfect. It is a lovely little town, with nice and friendly people. If you can speak any Italian, all the better. As others have mentioned, everything you need is available just steps away, and we found the prices better than at the supermarkets in the beach towns. One of the delis even has vino sfuso—you can buy an empty bottle or bring in your own and have it filled from a choice of six varieties of very drinkable wine for less than 3 euros a liter. I asked for cooking advice in several of the food shops and received friendly and helpful replies. We made a couple of day trips, including to Volterra, and were very glad to leave these interesting but hot and crowded places behind to return to Pia’s cool and peaceful house. We also went to the beach often; we can recommend Cecina, a cute town with nice free beaches and free parking (and two Conads if you need a supermarket) that is a 30 minute drive away. Our stay coincided with Castellina Marittima’s annual ‘Cucina Povera’ sagra (on the third weekend of July in 2017). Booths and tables and chairs were quickly set up all over town on Saturday morning, and on Saturday and Sunday evenings there were opportunities to try dozens of delicious local dishes, most costing in the three to five euro range. It attracted several hundred local people both nights. There was also entertainment, including a clown act for the children, a local choir, a traditional ‘stornella‘ singer, a terrific blues trio, and a couple of soft rock acts. It was all very civilized and fun. Pia was a perfect host, meeting us in person to check in and then contacting us several times to make sure everything was all right and that we were enjoying ourselves.
