Wir waren drei Familien mit insgesamt 13 Personen. Der grosse Pool war der HIT. Ideale Unterkunft!
Great with the house and area: Fantastic house for large groups or families. Separate smaller houses and the windmill with several bedrooms. Big well functioning kitchen and barbecue area. The garden is supernice and the pool area is awesome - big and spacious. Fantastic sunsets can be seen on top of the windmill. About 15min walk to town with lots of restaurants, shops and cafés and Harbour. Good to know: The roads are not great for walking/cycling to town, small and narrow and cars and motorbikes drive fast so beware of that. Bring flashlight or use light on phone. Good to have a small car here for grocery shopping and also because the good beaches are at least 5km away. Very hot to walk in summer to get groceries and because of there being no space for pedestrians. Nice beach Maratonas and don't miss Klima Beach which is a bit further away. Nearest beach in town is very small and not as nice so we did not spend any time there.
Andreas was a fantastic host. Even before our arrival he had contacted us and offered helpful travel advice to help us find our way from the airport to Aegina. Andreas was there to welcome us on arrival at the port and helped transport our luggage which was greatly appreciated. During our stay Andreas was very discreet but responded quickly to any questions or requests we had, even finding us extra sun loungers and another parasol as we were a large party (8 adults & 6 children). He also turned on all the pool lights each night to allow the children to have late night swims. The pool was exceptional. 20m by 10m and with beautifully clean water that the children thoroughly enjoyed, as did we. We were in it for hours! The poolside area is great with shaded areas when the heat gets too much and plenty of loungers. The addition of the table tennis table and a tennis court made entertaining children very easy. The communal kitchen was excellent with everything we needed which made family meals nice and easy to prepare. The water cooler outside the kitchen was fantastic and meant we had beautifully chilled water available as the water from the taps isn't drinkable. Sleeping wise: The windmill was taken over by the children who stayed in those rooms and loved having their independence there. They visited us for shower facilities as the bathrooms in the windmill had small baths but not showers. All the rooms had air conditioning which helped keep the rooms nice and cool. The three properties nearest the pool are of a higher standard than the one furthest away and have the best shower facilities. Our stay was incredibly relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed walking into town each evening to eat at the local restaurants. There are so many places to choose from and all very reasonably priced. Thank you Andreas. Katherine & family.
Andreas' place is a lovely retreat for a large family. We enjoyed having the separate little villas to stay in, and congregating in the shared central kitchen and dining area. The pool was super, larger than I had expected. There was a water cooler in the central area, since tap water is not potable. The wifi in the central area worked well for our devices. The port of Aegina is a 15 minute walk away, and there are bakeries and coffee shops closer by. Renting a car to get around the island is probably a good idea. Taxis from the centre of town to Kokkino Kastro are about 5 euros. The Aegina Medical Center is a 5 minute drive away, and the staff there were very helpful with our medical needs. Andreas suggested a travel agent who helped us plan a very good day trip to the Pelopponese. Andreas lives on the same large property, and is very sweet and readily available to answer questions and provide help and advice. We loved our stay.
Our group of 15 had an excellent time here, we did not want to leave. The huge pool and numerous shaded hang-out areas made for an enjoyable place to spend the whole day. The buildings are surrounded by pistachio and fig trees (the latter in season while we were there) and beautiful views of the surrounding island. Don't miss out on the sunsets seen from the rooftop of the old windmill building. The nearby town of Aegina is charming, I would recommend renting scooters or a car to get to and from - the walk is quite short but in the mid-day July heat could be quite intense. We had dinner prepared for us one evening by the talented chef Alex - if your group is in the mood for an excellent Greek feast, write him vizeatourtable@gmail.com. Andreas was a great and helpful host!
