Michael was there with a warm and friendly smile. He gave us a tour, explained everything and made sure we would be comfortable! The apartment was extremely clean, warm and comfortable! The bed was amazing and comfortable!
Such a nice couple I would definitely recommend staying here but the only thing is that the hot water is connected to the heating which only comes on certain time of the day but if you time it right you should have no problem.
Michael and Sheila exhibited that invaluable quality of traditional Irish hospitality in a wonderful setting. They couldn’t have been more helpful nor their apartment nicer. It was a wonderful stay. Thanks so much.
Michael and Sheila were very kind Hosts, they made us feel very welcome. The place is well laid out, large for the two of us so we had lots of room. We stayed a week, bought our own groceries in the small pretty town of Thomastown just a 20 minute walk away, we cooked our own meals, travelled to see some local historic sights that date back to the the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. We also took a 20 minute train ride into Kilkenny to see Kilkenny Castle and eat at Matt the Millers Pub. I regret not getting into Thomastown to have tea and get something to eat at the Blackberry Cafe. We had travelled for two weeks to Dublin, Galway and Limerick, they all had their good points, we found Jerpoint has some of the nicest rural scenery in Ireland. Now I know why my Fanning ancestors settled here over 1,000 years ago, it's very beautiful and a special place in this hectic world. Thanks to Michael and Sheila for Hosting us and making our stay everything we could ask for.
Would highly recommend Michael and Sheila’s place as a base to explore the Kilkenny area. Beautiful surroundings and an immaculate apartment with every amenity you could want. Super comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and lovely views across the countryside. But best of all was the warmth and friendliness of our hosts who went out of their way to be sure we got the most from the area and that we had everything we needed. Thank you Michael and Sheila! p.s. try the tapas bar at the bottom of their street - fantastic food

Sheila here, I am retired from the nursing profession after 40 years service in the local hospital. I have lived, worked and reared my family in Thomastown since getting married to Michael. My hobbies included reading, listening to radio and podcasts when walking, keeping up to date with current affairs and visits to the theatre. My real passion is cooking which I can indulge in since retiring. I also travel extensively to far "flung places" with Michael who doesn't allow the grass to grow under my feet!!! Michael:- Retired Irish Police Officer who then followed a hobby as a photographer into the professional realms and had my own studio in Thomastown. Had a wonderful time as a professional photographer, met Clint Eastwood and many other famous people along the way. I photographed over 500 weddings and have many happy memories tucked away in negative form in a filing cabinet. This is now converted in the attached listing. I have lived in Jerusalem with my family during the 1970's and worked with UN. As a result love to travel back there and keep a keen interest in developments in that part of the world. In the past year (2013). Love cycling and have toured Ireland on an electric bicycle, lazy maybe but lovely when going uphill. Enjoy plays, classical music but also oldies from 50's and 60's. Reading with Kobo ereader and using the ipad and other gadgets floats my boat also! Love nothing better than getting up early in the morning, going for a 5 mile walk,and listening to some podcasts, news or music on earphones. Am really conservative as far as food goes, movies favourite is Circle of Friends as I recall it being made just five miles away in Inistioge. Our motto during life was always treat a person like you would like to be treated and remember " never criticise anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes".
