The house is beautiful, extremely well-equipped and stunningly decorated. Central heating was great. The garden is lovely, and the environment is peaceful. Mike was very communicative and helpful, and we really enjoyed our stay. We would happily stay again.

Mike’s cottage ‘Burnie Brae’ was a beautiful, stunning Edwardian cottage but with modern conveniences. The double shower was superb and meant hubbie and I never had to take turns in who got the shower first! Everything about the cottage was in the perfect location to enjoy all that the Blue Mountains have to offer. The Three Sisters is within walking distance and Wentworth Falls is only a short drive away. Leura and Wentworth Falls villages are also a must to visit. The best shops for me are in Leura. In Katoomba we can highly recommend Mountain Culture, a local brewery. They serve good food, an immense beer selection as well as quality wines. I can recommend the Gilbert Family Rosé! Mountain Culture is literally round the corner from Burnie Brae. We have stayed in a lot of Airbnb’s around the world and we can honestly say that Mike’s Burnie Brae is the best so far. It also helped that it had a Scottish name as we’re from Fife in Scotland.🏴 We highly recommend Burnie Brae!
This is a superb atmospheric classic Australian country house. Featuring beautiful antiques. It also has a well designed modern bathroom with a superb shower and a very good kitchen. 10 mins walk from Katoomba centre and railway station and easily walkable into town, nearby there is a beautiful gully to explore and a longer walk or bus ride takes you to the famous walks and views of katoomba. Very Highly recommended!
Burney brae was absolutely fantastic. Mike wrote an essay explaining. Outstanding the amount of info for the property and the surrounding areas in the blue mountains. once we were there we were absolutely amazed with the property, a beautiful little gem in katoomba, we surely loved to be back for more hikking sessions and a great stay at Mike's place.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for viewing properties that I have listed with Air BNB. Mike's On Mac - Trendy Inner City Accommodation Offering comfortable accommodation in Alexandria and a great alternative to a hotel room as you can prepare your own meals. Located mid way between the airport and the city and is close to trains and buses to get you around various parts of Sydney - city, airport, beaches, and hospitals. Burnie Brae (circa 1908 ) and ATELIER (the former artist studio) This is main house on the property and was built in an Edwardian/Federation style in 1908, and is one of the premier houses in the area. Whilst retaining many original features including it's Wunderlich pressed metal ceilings, the house also provides a sense of warmth, comfort, space and homeliness (with modern day conveniences of course) and is suitable for one or two couples to stay. ATELIER - Stylish Holiday Accomodation. This the former artist studio of the previous owner and is nestled in the rear garden of the main house Burnie Brae and is at the end of short winding path through the north-side garden. Externally, the studio is very deceiving as it blends in well with the main house, but internally, it can easily be described as light, airy and modern and is perfect for a single person or a couple to stay. And now a little bit about me: Prior to moving up here over 16 years ago, I grew up in the inner city area of Sydney and use to always be drawn to the Blue Mountains in my youth for bushwalking and camping expeditions with a nature club that I use to belonged to. Over the years I have tackled many of the spectacular bush-walks and enjoyed some of the areas best cafes, pubs and restaurants, so I am happy to give out a 'locals' recommendations where consistency, service and atmosphere are the key defining factors. As well as running Burnie Brae (circa 1908) & ATELIER, I also have a full time job in the city. I guess I would best describe myself, as pretty much an easy going and helpful sort of guy, that enjoys most things that life has to offer, especially busk-walking, gardening and cooking. If you see me around the house , its usually on the weekends about one a month, so just say Hi !
