A great place to stay, a walk down the hill to the beach.

We rented this house for several weeks during the summer for a mini-adventure not too far from our home in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our kids attended local summer camps by day. We had a chance to meet the hosts in person before deciding to rent. They kindly agreed to meet us when we requested to check out the house before renting during a pre-visit to Monterey (which they did not have to) . They were very warm and helpful. Hearing more about the house and their daughter and grandchild added to the character of the house. To the best of my recollection, some of the paintings may have been done by a member of the family. As a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 young children), we were very comfortable in the home over several weeks. We never felt like we were missing anything we needed. The proximity to the local Del Monte beach (5 minute walk) and to downtown Monterey (30 minute walk on the beach, 5 minute drive) was great! We were close enough to benefit from the convenience, but far enough to not be bothered by traffic or noise. The beach is great … we saw several seals while walking towards Monterey. We had some family visit us for a day while where were there, which added 5 more people during the day. The house had more than enough space to accommodate people having dinner. The extra seating area outside and upstairs on the roof came handy for entertaining. Vicki was very responsive to any queries during our stay, for which we were very grateful. They are pros, and they have thought of almost everything, so my need to ask about anything was very rare. Vicki was also very kind to be flexible let us check out late on our final day so we could enjoy one last full day in Monterey (which actually ended up being godsend). There is really only one neighbor to this house, and for the most part they were not around when we were there, so it really felt like we had place to ourselves. The ultimate testament of our stay there is that our kids were really sad to leave. They asked if we could make renting this same house an annual summer tradition. We might just do that!

We really enjoyed our stay at Vicki’s place. Beautiful home that had everything we needed and more. Vicki was also very helpful and easy to communicate with. She was easy to reach if there were any issues, and she would check up on us from time to time. We really loved it and didn’t want to leave! Will definitely come back in the future.

My wife and I stayed here with our baby over the holidays and had an amazing time. The house is huge, incredibly well-appointed, and either newly remodeled or just very well cared for. The location is a two minute walk to the beach, and the rooftop deck provides a great place for sunset. There is also a running trail nearby, and for non-pandemic times, downtown Monterey is either a moderate walk or a short drive away. My wife and I both worked from here, and it was completely doable (no internet issues, plenty of space, a printer, if you need it). There isn't an office-space as such, but we had no problem making it work. Also, the owners provide books and toys for kids as well as a pack-and-play. We found the location to be very kid-friendly (at least for our son who isn't too mobile yet). We highly recommend this house.
