My husband and I stayed at Villa Star of the Sea over the Easter holiday weekend and despite it being peak tourism season, staying here was as if we had stepped into our own private oasis. The pictures on Airbnb are entirely accurate yet somehow didn't prepare us for the striking beauty of the property, which is gorgeously decorated in blues, turquoises, and white. We stayed in the ocean-view room, which has a great comfy bed, ample closets, and a sliding glass door that steps right out onto the pool/outdoor living room area. The room has a huge en-suite bathroom featuring a walk-in shower and lovely blue ceramic sink. My husband is kind of particular about bathrooms and he just loved it. Eileen and Jedd are gracious hosts and we stayed up on some nights chatting about their lives and work in Vancouver and ours in Mexico City, but they were also happy to give us plenty of privacy. Eileen's breakfasts in the morning were delicious and plentiful. Villa Star of the Sea is located on a wide beach that is only shared by a few other properties, so it really feels as if you have the beach to yourself. We drove from Mexico City and having our own car was great- we were able to take a day trip to a nice family-friendly local beach called Tenacatita about an hour away, and we took the five-minute drive to Colimilla several times to eat in the fabulous Restaurante Colimilla and to catch the water taxi to Barra de Navidad for lots of dining options at night. Having all this additional entertainment so close at hand, but not having to stay among the crowds and noise of Barra de Navidad, made Villa Star of the Sea's location absolutely perfect. We also ate lunch at the tapas bar that is part of Villa Star of the Sea, and the food and drinks were great. I really cannot recommend Villa Star of the Sea highly enough! We will definitely be back!
