exactly what we needed for a simple weekend getaway. we were close to US31 and Downtown Whitehall. parking lot was a bit cramped with several large vehicles, otherwise simple!

We stayed one night in #8. The room itself was what we expected given the travel season. Unfortunately the room was a little dirty still (sand/dirt on the floors, hadn't been swept.) The AC unit also was leaking water all night with an electrical outlet directly underneath. We placed towels on the bar table to at least absorb the water, but essentially we could not then use the table for anything. It was a little nerve racking for the potential of an electrical fire. The location is nice; ice cream shop and BBQ joints all within walking distance.

This place was a fantastic value especially for how close it was in proximity to the restaurants and places in Whitehall. We stayed here when attending Blue Lakes Arts Camp and it was an easy 12 minute drive (didn't even need directions after the first trip), we got ice cream across the street, walked to dinner, and were only a 10 minute drive away from a Lake Michigan beach. There were two of us and the place was nothing elaborate but it was a perfect spot to stay for a few days!

This Whitehall Cottages room was very dirty. The sheets had some kind of reddish flakes on them and there were obvious red, brown and yellow stains on the bedding, especially the mattress pad. There were many spiders around the room, likely because the front door was not weather proofed. There was mold in the shower and the caulk was peeling and the mini fridge freezer had mildew and a thick layer of melting ice in the bottom of it. I was not able to complete my stay and left immediately for different accommodations. This is not my first AirBNB stay in this area and the other locations I have stayed were very comfortable and clean. Gary did not respond to my concerns when I raised the issue with him and as of this review still has not responded. Fortunately AirBnb helped me resolve this issue, their customer service was quick to respond.
