Unfortunately we had a horrific time at Casa da Calma. As soon as I arrived i met the host at a random GPS location I was in a taxi and he would not give an address for the villa. I literally had to follow the host down a dirt road to a remote location. I had to pay the host €50 in cash for a late check in. Once inside the villa there was a flying giant cockroach which the host killed with his shoe and left there. We had to end our trip early as the location is no where near where advertised. It is 15 minutes walk down a dirt road into a lot of forestry which is not even accessible by taxis. Due to the location there is a huge infestation of Mosquitoes which after many times in Portugal I have never have seen so bad. We were so badly bitten we were advised by a pharmacy to leave the Villa. The host was very difficult to contact or deal with for the entire trip.

Disappointing that the twin beds weren’t a twin and actually a double. Not great for 11 year old boys! When we asked they be broken apart then the singles had very unsafe sticking up bits that were not suitable for kids. Disappointing that I had to buy dishwasher tablets, soap etc (which I did). Those basics should be included. Location and house were however superb.

The Villa was very cosy, kitchen was perfectly usable and clean, streaming options on Smart TV, the surrounding were beautiful and peaceful! The check in was easy and Steven was very responsive. The pool was a perfect size and not too deep. The Villa made the entire trip for being luxurious and relaxing :). Thanks for everything, Geoffrey

We did not enjoy our experience at this property. As soon as we checked in we noticed it was pretty dirty. The oven was filthy inside, the kitchen cupboards were stained and streaked and hadnt been cleaned in a long time. The master bedroom bathroom had an awful mold all around the inside of the shower. Bathroom chrome was dirty and had not been polished in a long time. Very poor as it is an expensive property. The kitchen and wardrobes are also tiny. If you intend cooking here, forget it. I have seen better kitchens in a caravan as it was so small and unusable really. The peace of our first morning relaxing in the garden was shattered by heavy and loud construction coming from the actual owners property just over a the hedge a few feet away. It went on all afternoon until early evening and was completely unacceptable. We contacted the host Steven immediately and he promised to get back to us. He did not. The next day, same again. Just awful. We contacted the host again who read the message but did not respond. We decided to that as the host was not responding to our valid complaints, that we would leave. So we left and booked into a hotel before our holiday was completely ruined. We never heard from the host again, and had to go through Airbnb Help to get resolution. A very poor experience all round. Thankfully Airbnb helped us, so no complaints about them, just the host and this property very poor.
