我们也许从未相识,但希望我的房源能让旅行中的你卸去疲惫,像在自己家一样温暖舒适。
My family and I had a great stay at Ishbel’s beautiful garden apartment near the center of Lagoa. Ishbel was very friendly and communicative. The apartment is exactly as described with plenty amenities, and is in a tranquil private location surrounded by beautiful landscape., The center of Lagoa is reachable by a quick car ride, and a few restaurants and shops are also within walking distance. I highly recommend and will definitely stay again!
Nós amamos nossa estadia na garden house! A casa é super completa e aconchegante, com todos os utensílios necessários para cozinhar, trabalhar e relaxar. Obrigada por nos receber, Ishbel!
This has been the most beautiful experience so much that my partner and I decided to extend our time here. Genuine hospitality in every way. Muito obrigada!
the best airbnb I have stayed at. attention to detail was excellent. the host was was really friendly. I wish we stayed longer
This place surpassed my boyfriend and I’s expectations! We spent 4 nights over new years at Ishbel’s AirBnB and it was the most relaxing stay. We agreed we both were having the best sleep in months, the property manager Rodrigo was kind and helpful, along with the friendly dogs Jackie and Boa that would always greet us entering the property. The pool, outdoor jacuzzi and hammocks felt like such an added bonus! I can’t say enough good things about this place, highly recommend.
Most of the best local restaurants are within walking distance of the property or a short drive; right on this same road running around the lake.
Basilico Pizzeria is a destination restaurant, people come from afar to eat their pizza. It is indeed excellent and I know that they use quality ingredients. I think it is worth paying more for the quality and experience inside a comfortable and pleasant environment.
The small Margarita pizza to start, is very delicate but with pleasing texture and flavor. The eggplant parmesan is very light but robust in flavour and makes a good shared appetizer. The arugala, tomato and mozarella salad is fresh and hearty.
I recommend the pizza Brasa which is grilled zucchini, (courgette), pizza with calabrese sausage,( Linguica) is fantastic as is the unusual Escrole hazlenuts and cheese combination.
The Santa marta Bistro which is a 2 minute walk away has come up recently as an experience that my guests are very happy with. I have yet to eat there but I believe they are using local ingredients and are creating some bold dishes.
Generally you will find the same fare all over the island, menus seldom differ. The food revolution has not reached the island yet.
As we are in a German founded state, the food veers towards Teutonic. Lots of beans, rice, cabbage and kale. There is also a legion of fried foods with over emphasis on browning the fish or chicken at the cost of drying it out.
However for the culinary inquisitive, on Saturday nights, Mada, Queen of Acaraje, reigns over her bubbling pots , making gold out of beans.
She stands by her large wok, zen steady with the whipping of the white bean batter. Shaped gently by two spoons the marshmallow like mixture is lowered into the sizzling dende oil. In a few minutes the dumplings are jostling each other for space as they fry slowly in the fragrant oil.
This sepia colored aromatic oil of the palmito flower, is what gives distinct flavor to some of Brazil's greatest dishes, Mucueca and acaraje being amongst them.
Mada comes from the North of Brazil where making acaraje is an art . .
In Florianopolis Mada is an acaraje master, in her own league. She feels blessed to be able to cook the acaraje and that very soul is transmitted into the dish.
She has a loyal following who visit her most saturdays when she opens up her tropical house to guests and devotees. Indeed her acarajee has taken on cult like status amongst "The initiated".
Once split open, the golden dumplings are spread with a very richly textured and flavored vatapa paste and topped with red and green diced tomato. Dried shrimps in their shell give a crunch and a burst of sea salt as the freshness of the tomato salsa is lifted by the saline shrimp .
The vatapa is a shrimp and nut based sauce or paste depending on the dish. i heard that the recipe floated down from heaven one day.
That and Mada's wicked home made hot pepper sauce that gives smoke and heat to the dish.
My friend Paulo and I compete like addicts over the last of the fiery sauce as we just can't get enough! And I must say the kitchen guards it carefully as it is time consuming to make.
However a couple of recommendations. Mada gets very overloaded and it is really best to get there early, like 6.30pm. Otherwise you can really wait too long for your acaraje as everybody starts showing up around 7.00 and it just does not stop until 10.00pm or until she runs out of mixture.
Also don't order them to take out. because fried acaraje go soggy immediatly and it completely ruins the texture.
Sushi Yama near the end of the Canto just before you take a right to lagoa, has nice quality sushi. However i find the energy flat, wherever i sit I dont experience it as a happening place.
I think Kan Pai sushi which is at the top of the morro da lagoa (hill) has a good view over the valley at night and a more lively atmosphere.
Also the peruvian restaurant in lagoa, sabor da peru is very good. i highly recommend the roasted octopus for two, it's really good.
Bocauiva restaurant in the city does a fantastic octopus dish, braised and then glazed with pimenta jelly.
Artemis across the road does creamy and cheesy gnocchi. The lightest I have ever tried and combined with filet mignon and a red wine reduction it was quite an ecstatic meal.
Just a few tips but we can speak more when you are here.
We also have a good gourmet cheese shop called quejeria and a local fruit and vegetable shop with produce straight from their farm, called Sacalao.
there is a Hipperbom supermarket to your right of the property, a 4 minute drive away. Open until about 10.00pm.
There is a convenience shop called Juniors also open until about 10.00pm on your way towards lagoa, left side of the road. Opposite Juniors is a shop called Fato de Mano where you can buy hand made pastas and sauces.
Uber is the app to download and it will translate for you too.
Please give all delivery people, friends and guests your cell number so that they don't ring my door bell.
We have parking for one car per house. If you have guests coming to visit please speak with me about parking.
自我介绍
I am truly a cosmopolitan person having been born of Scottish parents in South Africa. This set me up for a life of living abroad although I have also done my time in both Scotland (Aberdeen) and England, (London). I lived in New York during the 80's and 90's. I am a visual artist and chef de cuisine by profession. I hosted a number one rated cooking show on the Discovery Channel for a number of years, called Epicurious. I also spent 15 years cooking for the stars and supermodels of the New York Scene. I miss the international travel but my life is very settled now and I am content with that. It has been a project of 9 years now, renovating the three houses and the property ..This project will never end as there is always something new to aim for. We are always refining the details and making sure things are comfortable for guests. I am a passionate gardener, that is the most British thing about me. I live in the Hideaway Hill condominium as does a caretaker. We have found that to be the safest and most professional thing to do to keep order and make sure that the security is in place at all times. Guests have their privacy but we like to keep an eye on things and to be there should something go wrong. You will see me around the garden, weeding, planting, shaping, clearing. It is my favorite thing to do. The property is 4,250,.00 square metres, with big trees and lots of plants so I have a lot to do, always. I am an intensely creative person and always on the go. I like people but also like getting on with my work. I love entertaining, cooking and providing a wonderful ambience for people getting together. Brazil is a great place to live. It brings out the child in us. Much more leeway to play and enjoy life. However, you will no doubt be here in the summer months and there is less play and more work for me a this time. I have to keep the garden weeded and watered and I really enjoy doing that as the night closes in. I have a maid who comes once a week and a gardener who comes and cuts the grass and does some of the weeding. I recommend you do the housekeeping yourself but if you would like maid service during your stay, please let me know and I will see what i can do. If partying in a loud and rambunctious manner, then this house and garden will not suit you or us. i do take on catered events but they happen in a controlled manner. I do not want people staying here who want to bring a lot of friends and hang out by the pool with loud music, it is really not our style. We allow churrasco and to stay at the pool area until 10.00pm with music, after that you need to be in your house if you want music or shouting to be part of your festivities. i also discourage working girls from booking as it is a family condominium, not a place to entertain a string of male friends.
