The apartment was tastefully furnished and decorated however not well maintained or cleaned. There were large stains on the carpet and furniture, dirty kitchen sink, excessive grease in the oven, bread crumbs in the microwave, hair in walk-in showers...etc. Host was immediately contacted with pictures, said that she will let house keeping know for future reference but never offered to have the apartment properly cleaned. She noted however that she can send the rug and furniture covers to the dry clean but this will take several days to be cleaned. We declined since this meant that we will have no furniture to use for half or more of our stay . There were several maintenance issues (bathroom door doesn't lock, another bathroom with clogged pipes ) that we hoped the host would have taken care of them before check in. There is a major ant infestation in the apartment, not few summer ants here and there. Listing is inaccurate, host listed that the kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, etc. where guests can cook their own meal. However, there was very limited cooking utensils, only one dull knife, and no pots. The listing also said there was a grill on the roof with charcoal, wooden and metal skewers, and grilling utensils but there were none of these, only a grill. When we tried to ask for a pot to make pasta, the host was very abrasive and stated that the kitchen is only used for making salads and that they never advertised they have pots even though it clearly stated in the listing "Full kitchen with pots, pans, etc where guests can cook their own meals". After several back and forth messages and screen shots from the listing the host agreed to bring me a pot and pasta strainer as requested but stated that she is only doing this if I truly need them and just for me. The compound is nice however is not yet completed, and you are surrounded by construction. The compound is quite far from the rest of El Gouna. Beach is about 4 minutes by car. Few hours before check in, I was asked to pay a cash security deposit that was never mentioned in the listing. After several stressful messages while driving in the road and stating that this is against Airbnb policy, the host agreed not to charge the security deposit. I would not stay there again especially as there are several other nice apartments in El-Gouna with friendly professional hosts.

We had a great time staying in Hala‘s flat. It is big and spacious and had everything we needed. The location is fantastic and the pools too. So close to the kite schools and many great restaurants. Everything is easily accessible by foot or by tuk tuk. Hala was always contactable and helped us with recommendations and any queries we had during our stay. We felt so welcome and can‘t wait to stay again :)
