The home and surroundings were beautiful. However, there was an obvious rodent problem in the house that seemed to be known prior to our arrival. When we mentioned the smell, we were told that the last guests didn't notice anything. While we were told that pest control companies had been contacted, and while we understand that this is not a quick fix, we should not have been made to feel as if we were unreasonable for not wanting to pay for nights in a home that smelled like a deceased rodent. The person sent to "fix" the problem was not qualified to fix it, and another person who was only a tenant (not a professional) of the owner's other property was sent to the listing to "take a look". Unfortunately, the time and stress that it took to stay in this listing for 3 nights and find a new place to stay with a young child during Thanksgiving week made the experience quite negative. We were ultimately refunded when we requested it, which we do appreciate.

I have to say Ellen’s home was beautiful, charming and peaceful. It was beautifully decorated and I felt right at home. The patio was lovely and we spent mornings having coffee out there and enjoying the beautiful weather in Placitas. At night we enjoyed star gazing while drinking the wine Ellen dropped off for us. The kitchen had pots and pans and a coffee maker so we could cook. We loved our stay there and would stay again next time I visit. Liz

This is a lovely way to experience the area around Albuquerque. A small village with a lovely area to walk, the house is very quiet.We enjoyed grilling on the small terrace one night-dinner at nearby Blades was delicious.

A gem located in the heart of the historic village of Placitas under the backdrop of the Cibola National Forest! We had a very comfortable & peaceful stay @ Ellen’s home. We were most impressed by the charming adobe style as well as the thoughtful interior design. The backyard patio was great for hanging and BBQs. The fenced backyard was perfect for our dog to roam. We were just a few miles from many trailheads to hike the beautiful Sandia Mts. And just an hour or two away to explore the cultural treasures of Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Bandelier National Mt., Jemez Mt hot springs and more. Our stay @ Ellen’s home helped make our first trip to New Mexico. memorable :)
