Megali Vrysi is a once flourishing, but now deserted village, with no permanent inhabitants and a few newly built or restored houses, certainly free of the traffic, tourist groups and commercial establishments common to many tourist destinations. Yet from the tranquility of the village, you can venture out to numerous attractions and sights. In only 3 klm from Megali Vrysi you can reach the reviving village of Vamvakou, home of the known Greek shipowner Stavros Niarchos, where the Stavros Niarchos foundation is supporting the overall revival procedure. Other picturesque villages are found in the wider area, as well as beautiful forests and hiking or mountain cycling paths. A number of such paths start from Vamvakou, reaching the Parnon Refuge among other destinations. In Megali Vrysi itself, the village church dated from the 17th century has magnificent frescos of Kallergis, a well-known hagiographer of that time, whose works can also be found in the wonderful monastery of Rematiani nearby.

Guests can reach the house by car through a narrow road, which at first is downward sloping but becomes upward sloping after a point. The uphill part can be slippery in the winter and a 4x4 car would facilitate the access. Alternatively, they can park the car on the main road and take a 3 minute walk to the house.
