Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. This small wooden eco cabin is perched high on a cliff with breathtaking views over the Caribbean Sea. With everything you need, our cabin is built by local craftsmen in the traditional village style amid coastal forest in a protected area rich in birds, plants and wildlife. Many of the furnishings and fittings have been upcycled or recycled. Off the beaten track, this is the perfect place to unwind and appreciate the simpler things in life! Looking for somewhere away from it all? Built entirely of wood by local artisans, the cabin has been furnished with many upcycled and recycled objects which gives it a unique character. The kitchen sink has been made from an old tyre, the wooden cupboards use recycled wood, the sunshade and cushion covers are made from vintage coffee sacks and the bedcover is made from vintage Hungarian hemp grain sacks - perfect for this climate as this is a natural fibre which can "breathe". As passionate environmentalists the cabin reflects our deep commitment to minimalist but comfortable living and gives you a chance to experience this high quality of life for yourselves. With an amazing 200 degree view from the large terrace over the neighbouring coastline and the tops of the trees, you can see the birds and butterflies feeding at the same height as your sunlounger! The two sets of double doors open to create a completely unobstructed view and the modest but tasteful living space incorporates a standard double bed with mosquito net, well equipped kitchen area with gas hob and stove and a small bathroom with WC and handmade hand basin and tap. On a second deck below the main terrace is a private shower accessed by a short flight of steps and this deck also has a drying area for washing or wet towels. All the water is our own harvested rainwater. The water to the shower is heated by passive solar heating through a special hose installed on the roof of the Hangout. The Hangout has its own access to the parking area through a small wooden gate in the fence of the property. We deliberately do not have a swimming pool. The dangers of swimming in chlorine are now well recognised, especially for anyone with allergies, skin problems or asthma. Salt water pools are not a solution since they simply use salt to generate chlorine and the end result is the same. With two beautiful beaches either side of our house you can swim in a totally natural, chemical free environment whenever you want and enjoy the beauty of the undersea world with its corals, fish and other amazing wildlife. One beach is a secluded cove, 15 minutes walk away, usually deserted with excellent snorkelling and the other beach is 10 minutes by car (or you can kayak from Marigot Bay or swim round from the secluded cove) and is a wide sandy beach perfect for swimming and enjoying the waves. We are committed environmentalists and our passion for nature drives everything we do. Unlike other guest houses we never use pesticides or insecticides but work with natural pest solutions. A network of fishpools provide an environmental solution to prevent mosquitoes breeding as the fish eat any mosquito larvae and therefore drastically reduce the mosquito population - this is in direct contrast to the common local practice of fogging for mosquitos with a spray made of neurotoxins. We have planted our garden to encourage birds and other wildlife onto our plot and we have left the majority of the property wild as a wildlife sanctuary. We are also planting many native plants such as orchids and air plants in our plot which have been rescued from development areas in order to protect them from extinction. We take our guests' privacy very seriously and not only do we give them "space" while they are living on our property but we do all our cleaning and maintenance ourselves so that they are not disturbed by on-site staff. We also do not mark the way to our property with signs down the roads as the more commercial guest houses do since we really consider our guests are visiting our private home and we treat them as our private guests. We have partnered with local Saint Lucians to design a series of private land and sea tours which are not on any tourist "programme". These are focused on local experiences and off the beaten track adventures. All of these experiences are arranged directly with local people, not tour agents, and are described in the information sheet which we send out to our guests once they have booked with us. Fifteen minutes walk down the private road will bring you to a small secluded cove where you can swim or snorkel among coral reefs. In twenty minutes (walking) you will be down in Marigot Bay with its cafes, restaurants and marina life.
Really enjoyed the stay. Very quiet and private, the view is unbeatable. The nearby beaches were top shelf.
Petite cabane dans un écrin de verdure avec une vue magnifique. la douche en plein air offre une véritable expérience de liberté ! nous recommandons ce logement 🫶✨️
Lovely private setting with spectacular sunsets. The heat and mosquitos were a challenge but we knew that ahead of time. Grateful our hosts provided and extra fan!
Absolutely magical place to stay! Breathtaking location with spectacular views! One of the best coral reefs that I have ever seen just a walk away from the tree house. The place is a bit hard to get to as the road is very steep and full of massive holes but if you have a car with a good ground clearance, you will be fine (car is a must though). If you are afraid of bugs, spiders or cannot stand mosquito bites, you might want to reconsider. Would 100000% go back and recommend to all my friends!
Marigot Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean. It has top quality restaurants and facilities and is a great centre for exploring the island as you can go both north or south with ease. We are located one bay away from the main bay itself which means we benefit from the facilities while enjoying our own peace and quiet!
You can walk to Marigot Bay in around 20 minutes. However, we do recommend to rent a car while on the island or hire a taxi driver for tours. If you wish to rent a car from an agency, we work with a local family based company. It is called First Choice Car Rental. Please do not hire your car from one of the big international companies - it is fairer for the local population if your money can benefit families on the island. We also rent a car to our guests on a first come first serve basis.

A very warm welcome! A litte about us: We are a family of four, originally from Germany. After living in Uganda, Italy, the Maldives, Spain, we arrived in August 2017 to the beautiful island of St. Lucia. Over the past years, we settled on the island. Our kids go to school here, we found friends and truely love the island life. We are nature lovers and spend nearly every weekend exploring the amazing island, from isolated beaches to waterfalls and hiking in the jungle. My husband Martin worked for four years as an engineer for renewable energy for the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Commission and is now in the process to set up his own e-bike business. I work for the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) in the areas of climate change and migration. Look
