Enjoy the surrounding nature and animals during your stay in the South Dordogne. We are in a semi-rural location in between the medieval villages, Issigeac & Villeréal both with weekend markets. The Pigeonnier is a 2 storey, individual building, renovated in 2018 suiting an individual or couple wishing to enjoy hiking trails from the doorstep, cycling on quiet country lanes, visiting châteaux & local vineyards. We are 1hr45mins from Bordeaux and only 20mins drive from Bergerac Airport. The Pigeonnier is located in 6ha of grounds, including our Barn, and a farmhouse yet to be renovated, overlooking the paddocks with our horses. The accommodation is over 2 floors; Downstairs has a kitchenette; electric hob (2 rings), sink, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, cafetière and cupboard space; traditional french sofa and dining table for 2 with a wooden spiral staircase to an open bedroom; offering a kingsize bed, chest of drawers, hanging space and a Bathroom; with shower, toilet, handbasin and heated towel rail. Views look to the Southwest.

A unique and peaceful retreat combining easy access to several picturesque villages with the impression of being miles away from anywhere. Rachel gave a warm welcome and was quick to respond to messages. Pictures are accurate and I felt perfectly at home.
Ce séjour chez Rachel a été fort sympathique, dans un cadre exceptionnel. Le pigeonnier est très original et confortable, un petit cocon dans un écrin de verdure. La proximité avec la maison principale n’est pas dérangeante, car les hôtes sont très discrets et gentils. Le petit plus : la terrasse est idéale pour admirer un ciel étoilé d’une rare beauté.
Nous avons passer un merveilleux week-end. Rachel et son fils sont adorables, serviables et discrets. Le cadre est magnifique, ainsi que le logement. Nous n'avions pas envie de partir et nous y reviendrons ! :)
Lovely place to stay in a wonderful part of France. Rachel and her family were very nice to us and accommodating. Even tough we only stayed 2 nights, we would definitely recommend Rachel’s place for a longer stay :)

We are close to a number of medieval and bastide villages dating back to the 13th century.
Issigeac has a warren of medieval houses and streets to be explored at your leisure, admiring the details on the houses, and the numerous half-timbered properties and holds an all-year round Sunday market offering locally produced fruit and vegetables, local honey, clothing, hats & bags etc.
There are hiking trails straight from the doorstep and one with a distant view of Château de Biron.
Transport is essential as we are in a semi-rural location. Parking is free in most small villages. During the summer months market days maybe busy.
You can also hire bicycles to explore the quiet country lanes.

We are an English family of 4, my husband, myself and our two sons. We have lived in the Dordogne, SW France since in 2017. We bought the farm in 2018 and renovated the Barn and the Pigeonnier in 2018. We have a number of animals who we share our space with; horses, hens, cats and a dog.
