We built our dream home, Casa de Pura Vida, with respect and love for Costa Rica’s natural beauty. We strived to make best use of the breathtaking views of the ocean, sunsets, and jungle from our near-the-beach one acre lot. Every room has breathtaking ocean views over the the infinity lap pool in the foreground. The 180 degree jungle and ocean panorama is highlighted by the Dominicalito bay and Parcela island with its iconic tree. Ahhhh While you emerge yourself in paradise, you can appreciate the state of the art technology, fast reliable internet, modern appliances, solar energy PV system, solar heated pool water system, water filtration system, battery backups, theater quality audio/visual systems, world class office set up, and many delightful modern smart home conveniences. Digital nomads, executive retreats hosts, and workers needing to connect during vacations will no doubt appreciate the Casa de Pura Vida experience. Casa de Pura vida has two master ensuites - one is called Colibrí (hummingbird) and the other is called Flores (flowers). Colibrí has a king sized bed and Flores has a queen sized bed, and both have luxurious bathrooms. Flores also has a distinctly designed “Ofuro”, or Japanese soaking tub, carved out of local Patarra stone by a Costa Rican artisan. Perfect for a meditation as the center of the house and the lot (and the universe!). The third bedroom is called Mariposa (butterfly), with double sized bunk beds uniquely designed to bring smiles to kids of all ages. An outdoor shower serves Mariposa’s guests but also serves those enjoying the pool and/or the Argentine inspired mud spa. The fourth bedroom, called Nube Blanca (white cloud), is a fully functional office and music studio which is designed to convert into an expansive bedroom (it is equipped with a futon bed), an artist wonderland, a yoga studio, a conference room, a ceremonial/performance meeting space, or any combination of the above. Nube Blanca’s bathroom also has a private outdoor shower allowing guests to commune with nature. The fully stocked modern kitchen readily accommodates gourmet chefs or casual dining. Tucked around the south side of the house, the BBQ area has a sink, a mini fridge, and all of the utensils required for amateur BBQers. In addition, an extensive “farm to table” herb and vegetable garden help make every meal (or snack) healthy and scrumptious The pool is designed for rest, relaxation, fun, and health. The lap pool is 16.3 meters long and 2.5 meters wide (i.e., ⅓ the length of an Olympic size pool and the width of competitive swimming pools). Even the depth was designed for those used to flip turns or wanting to learn how. The infinity edge is designed to allow guests to sip a cocktail while admiring the breathtaking sunsets. And if comfort is more your calling, four hydrojets are aimed at just the perfect spots while you sit on the bench seats. And don’t forget that the pool is warmer than any others in the area due to the solar hot water collectors designed to reap the renewable heating energy of the sun. The north end of the pool is the perfect depth for beginning toddler swimmers. The central plaza gardens on the east side of the house, visible as you drive in from the Pacific Edge road, are lush, colorful, and vibrant. The focus is an iconic labyrinth to facilitate walking and sitting meditations or enjoy the butterflies, hummingbirds and other animals who frequently visit. The outdoor covered walkway connects all the rooms and the outside gardens, and a one-of-a-kind pedestrian walkway allows guests to easily walk to the nearby Dominicalito beach or nearby sites. Be sure to stop at one of the two benches on the pedestrian walkway - one dedicated to the female ancestors and the other to the male ancestors. Casa de Pura Vida has many surprise design features.
