The owner of the Airbnb is an architect and a constructer, something you can both feel and see, from the outdoors, on the back terrace and inside the apartment. The building is heated with Geothermal energy, which is both energy-efficient and sustainable. There is floor heating throughout the apartment and ventilation which does wonders for the indoor air quality. With an eye-catching exterior, visibly inspired by the Faroese nature and the oceans surrounding the islands, the house allures you. The entrance is on the back of the house with a nice little terrace that you can share with the other Airbnb residents in the building as there are two, more or less identical, Airbnb listings in the three-store building. From the balcony, you have a view of four beloved landmarks for Tórshavners; The church tower of the charming Tórshavn Cathedral, the historical fortress Skansin, the island Nólsoy, and Kongavarði – the King’s Cairn - on the top of the mountain between Tórshavn and Kirkjubøur. When you enter the apartment you get into a nice hallway that leads you into the kitchen and living room. There are three doors on the side of the hallway, leading to two different bedrooms and to the bathroom. All of the outfacing walls in the apartment are concrete, complementing the funkiness and style of the apartment. There is a primary bedroom and a second bedroom. Both bedrooms are simplistically furnished with big high-quality double beds, chic bedlamps, lots of storage and blackout curtains, something you will appreciate in summer when the nights are short in the Faroe Islands. The bathroom is spacious and modern, with both a handheld shower and a waterfall shower. There is also a washing machine and a dryer in the bathroom, free to use. The hallway leads you to a modern open-concept kitchen, dining and living room combination. This top-floor apartment has been utilized to the fullest, with a high ceiling adding to the spacious feel of the room. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need or might need, for a stay on the Faroe Islands. Maybe you will even get inspired to try out the waffle maker and make your own batch of Faroese waffles – something the Faroese are very fond of making. We have laid out the owner's go-to waffle recipe for you to try out, a recipe handed down from our grandmother. There is great lighting in the living area, making it a great place to hang out after a long day exploring the islands or hiding from a passing shower. There is a small balcony, spacious enough for you to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or a drink in the evening. During summertime, you will notice the unique sound of rowers practising on the bay. The squishing sound as the wooden oars and the wooden boat meet and the encouraging shouts from the person sitting at the rudder. It is magical, and if you have more energy in your legs, it is worth going down to the marina to watch them as they practice, it is quite a beautiful sight.
