The town of Presicce, located in the lowest part of Salento near Santa Maria di Leuca, it’s known as the town of the subterranean oil mills. The town is collocated in a valley particularly rich in water; it is dominated by the hill of Pozzomauro. The hill of Pozzomauro is characterized by the presence of terraces, dry stone walls, native Mediterranean plants, expanses of olive trees, pine trees, and Kermes Oaks. Chios’s apartment is collocated in an ancient urban tissue, made of numerous courtyard houses dating back to five hundred years old, little streets, and churches. As soon as you Cross the threshold of the ancient green door, it is tangible the sensation of being in a place belonging to the past: ancient palaces, flowerful terraces, and majestic churches. The alternation between open spaces and intimate little streets occurs almost with the same cadences between a breath and another of tourists who walks around. The services offered in the neighborhood are places for lunch or dinner, a supermarket at fifty meters from the apartment, and a pharmacy located a few minute's walks from the apartment. In front of the pharmacy, there is also a greengrocer. The town's main plaza (Piazza del Popolo) is thirty meters from the apartment, it is one of the most famous plazas known in Salento. This plaza maintains under the famous subterranean oil mills. This Plaza becomes almost a distribution element of the historic center. On the left side, there is the Castel of the Prince, on the back you can find a nice coffee shop where you can eat your breakfast, and in the same area, there is the local touristic center.

The transportation system in the area of Salento is not quite defined and functional yet. The only railway line hasn’t had many daily schedules and it has also low efficiency. The speed of the trains is low and, furthermore, it is not possible to get to all the sea cities. Unfortunately, to this day, the best way for visiting the area of Salento and discovering the most amazing beaches is the car. It is possible to rent a car at the Airport/Railway station o directly in Presicce-Acquarica.
