It is a gem on a beautiful island untouched by mass tourism yet with great views, super tasty dinner arranged by very kind hosts under the endless stars. Highly reccomended,true paradise on Chole island. Great place to disconnect and be in touch with nature. There is a frequent and affordable public ferry going from Utende to Chole during the day, BNB is easily reachable.

This was a beautiful stay. The host provided good meals, family support and showing me around the village and taking me and my Tanzanian friend on a snorkeling and diving trip off Chole Island, boat ride to the Blue Lagoon, and a visit and tour to the Juani Island with a tour to the ruins. This was a spectacular trip and worth it and a peaceful stay near the Indian ocean mangroves that surround the island with no noise pollution from cars but nature and waking up to the sounds of the Indian ocean and birds chirping as the sun rises in the background over the Indian ocean.

Nous sommes allés passer 3 nuits dans cet endroit paradisiaque. Athuman était absent mais ses frères Rajabu et Amissi (ainsi que tout la famille) nous ont merveilleusement accueillis. À la fois discrets, disponibles et serviables. Si vous cherchez un endroit où prendre du recul sur la vie : vous êtes au bon endroit. La vie sur Chole est paisible, authentique et préservée. Ce logement vous permettra d’être en contact direct avec ses habitants. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le tour du village fait avec Rajabu. Pendant tout notre séjour nous avons commandé les repas à nos hôtes : tous les menus ont été différents et tellement bien préparés, un régal ! Quelques petites choses pratiques à noter : les prises sont en 12v (électricité par panneaux solaires) alors venez avec votre téléphone (et autres appareils) chargés ; renseignez vous sur les horaires de marée pour votre arrivée/départ (l’accès au bateau depuis le bas du logement pourrait être difficile à marée très basse !).

This is a family starting their own boutique accommodation in Chole: Chole Sanaa. Athuman's brother Rajab is in charge and extremely friendly. There are three rooms on the property; each has a private bathroom. They are very clean and simple, overlooking the ocean. It is relevant to note, that if you stay in Chole, you have to pay the government marine park fees. It is unfortunate, but hopefully not a deterrent for you to stay at Chole Sanaa. You must be prepared to unplug (electricity is limited and you rely on Rajab's staff to get around the island) but it is a great way to do fun water-based activities during the day. It is on an island, so two days are enough to have a private whale shark experience (60USD per person) and day trip which included a sandbank picnic and visit to the blue lagoon (both for 60USD per person). Rajab was amazing, the food was great (you have to note the price per meal) and a great way to experience Chole (boat ride from Mafia).

We had a wonderful stay! It was one of the highlights of our Tanzania trip. Athuman's brothers and cousins took such good care of us that we felt at home and almost as part of the family as soon as we set foot on the island. They organised excursions and trips for us every single day (50-60$ per person). Every night we were offered a delicious 3-course meal prepared by Athuman’s aunt who is a fantastic cook (15$ including breakfast and water). Athuman also organised transport to the island for us, The location of the rooms is much nicer than depicted in the current pictures, overlooking Chole Bay and placed in a lovely garden teaming with life – flying foxes, exotic birds, chickens, goannas. The rooms themselves are quite simple and don’t have proper windows but mosquito nets instead. They are powered by solar. Guests should also be aware that they have to pay a 24$ conservation fee per pers/day. It’s definitely worth it though for this very special place with the most wonderful hosts!
