Whether you are coming to the High Country to enjoy our beautiful summer weather, catch an Appalachian football game or leaf look in the fall, or hitting the slopes in the winter, Rancho Relaxo is your home away from home. Our spacious covered porch is the perfect place to enjoy time with friends or family while listening to the mountain creek rushing beside you. Or just sit in the large front yard and watch the sky light up behind Grandfather Mountain at sunset. The house is small but cozy. The 2 bedrooms both have queen size beds with room to walk around on each side. The closets have plenty of space to hold all your luggage as well. The porch is spacious with a cover over the section that is right next to the creek so you can enjoy the sounds while staying dry! We also have a large front yard that can be a decent spot for younger kids to sled in the winter or for some yard games for the older kids and adults.

This is our third time that we have stayed at Rachel's place. It's become a home away from home. We love listening to the stream that runs next to the house and the view of Grandfather Mountain! It's so peaceful! This year we had a little bit of snow and the kids enjoyed running around the yard and having a little snowball fight. The house itself had everything that was needed. My daughter became friends with the neighborhood cat, Magic. We will continue to stay at Rachel's place as long as we can!
We stayed Easter weekend. They left a chocolate bunny and peeps for my son! It had a very pretty view of Grandfather Mt, and a really cool creek beside the house (that we definitely explored!). Beds were comfy after a long day of hiking. Not far from town. Nice porch and tucked away on a little mountain. We could see all the stars at night. We had a fabulous time and we honestly thought about just staying there forever! We will definitely be back! Communication was great and they even suggested stuff to do for kiddo. Don’t question it. The answer is YES!
Peaceful, beautiful location just outside of town which is a 5 minute drive away. We stayed here mainly for the hiking\trails and the house was a great, cozy retreat to relax at
Rachel was very accommodating! She responded to a couple of questions I had. The place was nice and clean. The view and outside deck was a bonus to our stay. We were very happy with the house. Nice and comfy!

The neighborhood is located just a few minutes outside of the town of Boone. It is a pretty quiet neighborhood but does have easy access to the highway.

My husband and I met at UNC-Chapel Hill over 15 years ago and returned to Boone, his hometown, after graduation from our graduate programs. As a native Iowan, I have come to love living in the Blue Ridge Mountains and all it has to offer. We have 3 children, a cat and a black lab which combine for a busy household. Since we love hosting family and friends at our own home, we wanted to expand our hosting to others seeking to enjoy our beautiful area. Some think we are crazy for doing this but we look at it as something fun and exciting. Help prove us right!
