Great location - perfect for a stay in Kyoto. Right near the main attractions but doesn’t feel like you’re in a tourist trap. Lovely ‘hidden’ bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Would stay here again!

We absolutely loved staying in this traditional Japanese home, it was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The shower was also powerful and warm! We made use of the washing machine after over a week of travelling which came in super handy, appreciate that detergent was left for us to use. The house is in a great location, walkable to Nishiki market as well as the subway with great connections around Kyoto - we actually walked most places from here. There’s a 7 eleven just around the corner for amenities too. The house had so much charm and character but still with modern amenities- thanks so much for a great stay. We also appreciate the great communication from the host.

This was our favorite stay in Japan. The machiya was perfectly set up for my group, which included my wife, 18 month old son, and my senior parents. They were kind enough to provide a high chair as well as house slippers and umbrellas for everyone. We loved the heated floors in the tatami room and our son enjoyed NHK shows on the tv. The bathroom was so spacious and well appointed. The separate dining room has a large western table for gathering. It was cold while we were here but this home was warm and cozy. Location was also great, with many wonderful restaurants and groceries nearby. Highly recommend!
