The Farmhouse was perfect for us. It was peaceful, cozy and exactly what we needed. Blair was a fantastic host and a great person! We absolutely LOVED our time there!
The cottage was amazing! Very clean and well stocked with towels, dishes, coffee, linens, and blankets. The area was very quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately the horses in photos were not there (previous caretaker). But there will be some in future. There are goats, chickens, and friendly quinea hens. Blair responds within minutes and tries very hard (and succeeds) to answer all questions. Location is close to many restaurants and the Views wedding venue. I would highly recommend staying with Blair. I’m definitely going to be going there again.
What a beautiful home and location as a home base to travel the area. Home is clean and pleasant. Highly recommended!!
I don't like to give inaccurate information. In fact, I sincerely never leave a review unless it's an exceptional or unexceptional experience due to the realization that this often someone's business and therefore, their income affects their families. But I also want to be a good steward of my own experiences and finances. So, I want to share a bit about our experience with this listing. Please note, I want to be transparent as a customer and so I have left feedback for the host for suggestion. I don't want to get trampled online for sharing what can be difficult to review. First of all, I'd like to share that Crystal, the property caretaker of this listing, is a wonderful communicator and was very helpful to us during our stay. My children enjoyed their time with her horses and she was very thoughtful. Traveling with children is, as most parents know, challenging. But Crystal met our requests, assisted with questions and responded promptly. But, the challenge I have with this listing is that unfortunately there is a significant amount of inflation in regards to its offerings. Call it wordsmithing at its finest or false advertising, whatever your preference. The fact remains that the information on the listing, the photos that are given and the amenities listed are not representative of the property and your stay as a guest. In context, a friend and I have a regular seasonal meet with our children, we have lived in the country, both of us are familiar with farm life, animals, etc but the details that are shared on this listing are extremely inflated. We were informed they are actually three properties on this block of land as well as the caretaker's home, two buildings/single wides, a parking area for farm machinery and a broken trailer. So if you are expecting to get a large block of land without others in view, this simply is not the case. In fact, I was uncomfortable to be in a space where cell phones don't work well, internet is spotty, and on piece of land with several other "long term" tenants. In fact, when taking out the trash my very last day, I was met at the dumpster by a car, who waited until I put my trash in the dumpster with my children and then drove off. I was extremely uncomfortable. In addition, the locks on the front and back door of the home are not secure. Thus, I felt uncomfortable enough to put furniture in front of the doors. While the view of grazing horses is beautiful if they are let out into the area where you can see them, the view from the front porch is actually a shed and the caretaker's home. There is the insinuation on the listing that you are given free reign of the area for hiking, fishing, etc. But including the properties around it, visibly there are several run down homes or "long term stay listings" from the front porch view. This was not at all described on this listing or even mentioned. On the animals: While rescuing animals is a noble profession and I have been a part of many causes like this, I'm also uncomfortable with an untrained, non people friendly horse, and several roaming dogs in the area where families with children could come into contact with them. I appreciated Crystal being up front with us about the animals, but if you are running a guest rental, this is a huge liability for your guests as well as the owners of the animals and property. The trails rides are not clearly marked and I was uncomfortable allowing my son or myself to ride the trails even though we have owned horses. To fish, you have to go down the driveway, past the dumpster where you are to take out your trash, to a pond area. This area is not well maintained and the pond is not stocked. It does not appear to be addressed in its integrity at all. To be frank, I was uncomfortable with my son doing catch and release due to its appearance and concerns with bacteria. There was a significant smell from the water and a large film on top of it. As a person who has stocked a pond before on my own property, if I'm using this as one of the guest rental amenities, I would not list this as one of them. Upon further investigation of the property while we were staying there, I found many signs that this was a trailer that had been flipped to a "rental property." Plywood had received less than one coat of paint and much of the flooring was installed improperly leaving significant rifts in the floor and an uneven surface for even walking. The floors were sinking in and the paint was peeling in several rooms due to moisture. There was very clear evidence of water damage in several rooms and a misrepresentation of the rooms available. If you are looking to stay in a rustic hunting lodge with some brothers from backwoods, this is great. But, if you are looking for the tranquil property listed, a cup of coffee on the porch without a view of run down properties, and a country "get away" I would not recommend staying here. There was a significantly higher service charge in comparison with other localities with similar offerings. This was not itemized or disclosed at all. In addition, there was a cleaning fee. For this square footage and the amount of cleanliness that was available, the fee is around 2 times the amount it would cost to clean the area. Additional noteworthy items....there is no dishwasher. So, if you are looking to rent for a family, you will be hand washing dishes. With the level of cleanliness that was already apparent, this made me super uncomfortable. While there is AC that is offered, it is clearly not functioning to it's full capacity. There are
A peaceful place to enjoy the countryside and take a deep breathe of fresh air. Cheerful song birds, grazing deer, and gentle breezes are sure to relax your soul.
Partially covered parking for two, and excess parking for multiple other vehicles is available to you at the Cottage.
You can either walk to the fishing pond or pull off into the grass, if you choose to drive.
