Johan and staff was so accommodating, I was able to check in late due to flight delay, helped me find restaurants that delivered, helped me book an affordable massage at location, so I didn’t have to leave, and helped me do laundry free of charge. I truly felt at home and at peace on my vacation. 5 stars. ⭐️
The birdhouse is incredible! I loved every minute of my time there. The structure is a work of art inside and out. The one of a kind stained glass windows guide you whimsically through stages of life on earth. The two levels of porches allow you to see in every direction. Every day was full of views of flora and fauna, birds, iguanas, howler monkeys, armadillos, and the sounds of the jungle. The onsite hot springs and soaking tubs are creative and comfortable, hidden along a path in the trees. Very clean! We loved the personalized tours available through local guide, Frank's Tours. Frank went above and beyond to make our experience rich and diverse, full of education and fun. Another perk: on-site massages and facials were a delightful treat. I traveled here with my 78-year-old mom and we both had an incredible experience. There is something for everyone of every age - water slides, cold pool, various warm/hot springs, nature trails, birds, and great service. Thank you
This is such a unique experience. The birdhouse is an exceptional location to observe many local wildlife. Download the Merlin app and learn of all the different varieties of birds on the property. In regard to the accommodation, it was easy check in. The unit was 3 floors with air conditioning only being on the top floor. So if you plan on cooking anything, start early as the kitchen is on the 2nd level and very hot. The last day we got a pour down of rain so it cooled off substantially. We were able to have a nice breakfast on the terrace. The thermal pools start cool and progressively get warmer. Very relaxing way to end a day or hang out during the day. Overall, we had a great experience at the orenpendola treehouse.
This has to be one of the most epic airbnbs ever! A 3 story oropendula treehouse?! Absolutely incredible! The nature watching from up there was incredible. We loved all the little artistic touches as well, the stained glass, the hand carved doors. A truly amazing place! And the staff there are so helpful and accommodating. We would have loved to stay longer. Maybe next time. Thank you again for hosting us!
We soaked in the peacefulness and enjoyed the variety of temperature hot springs. The soaking areas are very natural surrounded by jungle and animals are abundant!

Pura Vida! (“Pure life” is an all-purpose greeting in Costa Rica, as well as a way of life.) Kathy and Bernie have designed Bio Thermales so guests may enjoy the beneficial hot springs and rainforest while making only positive impacts on the rainforest in our care. This is a very healing and lovely place and we look forward to sharing it with you. We have worked on many environmental endeavors, professionally and as volunteers. Bernie is an engineer, organic gardener, woodworker, artist and great cook. Kathy is a nutritionist, writer, graphic designer, and community and events organizer. We have also been active in many human rights and ecological protection efforts. We have a friendly dog, tilapia pond and free-ranging chickens.
