自我介绍

Hi, I’m Stasia! I love to travel to new places, try new things, and meet new people. I also love hitting up my favorite local spots, chillin with my family, and highly value my alone time. I love plants, cooking, going for hikes, the beach, and binging TV shows. I am originally from La Porte, but my partner, daughter, and I live in Indianapolis. This past year+ I've split my time between the two places while getting things up and running and will continue to do so while overseeing operations. A little background about what brought me to listing on Airbnb... Growing up we traveled quite a bit. Both my parents are from Pennsylvania, we have family all over, and my parents love to travel. We’ve stayed at quite a few places along the way. Any time we’d stay at a cool vacation rental, I’d dream of one day owning my own. In 2018 I graduated from Ball State University where I majored in Communication Studies and minored in Entrepreneurial Management and Marketing. Shortly after graduating from school, I found out I was pregnant. I worked in banking for a bit and then had my daughter. After we had our daughter, we decided the best choice for our family was for me to stay home with her until she was old enough to talk. I’ve always loved cooking and eating food, but after having my daughter I became more aware of all the ick added to a lot of food and started to make a lot more from scratch. While at home with my daughter I started an IG page as a diary of the food I was making and places we were eating out at, and Foods with Flare was born. It was around this time in 2019 that my parents decided they wanted to build their retirement home somewhere closer to the beach. When they made this decision, I kept pressing that they should keep our childhood home and list it themselves on Airbnb. My parents weren’t initially interested, but I kept bringing it up, running numbers, and assuring them I would help. Eventually, my dad became receptive to the thought. In 2020 I decided to start an LLC, get certified to sell food to the public, and sell some things out of a ghost kitchen, but like many, I ended up having to pivot. The ghost kitchen changed ownership, lost my deposit, and with the way things were going in the restaurant industry I took that as a sign to shift focus. Instead of operating out of a commercial kitchen, I listed my services as an in-home private cook. That’s around the same time the lightbulb lit up, and I thought about marrying the two ventures. I always admired farm-to-table, and u-pick concepts, and thought "how cool would this concept be played into an Airbnb?" But unlike a bed and breakfast or strictly farm-to-table concept, I wanted to allow guests the freedom and accessibility to customize their experience to be as hands-on or off as they’d like. We’ve still got a ways to go as far as additional space and features we’d like to add the space (murals, finish the basement to include a game room and completely remodeled laundry room, several additions to the garden space, +++), but this means you can expect something new and exciting every time you come to visit! It brings me joy to share spaces that are special to me, and I hope this is the first of many unique short-term rentals to come. Eventually, I dream to have houses with flare all over.
